The City of Colby Sanitation Department will not be working on Thursday, July 4, 2024 in observance of the July 4th Holiday. Thursday's residential route will be picked up on Friday, July 5, 2024. 4th of July
Hours of discharging fireworks: between the hours of 8 a.m. and 11 p.m. on June 27th through July 5th.
Permit for commercial grade public firework display.
Approved fireworks: bottle rockets prohibited.
Discharge of fireworks on streets and public property prohibited.
Throwing fireworks is prohibited.
It shall be unlawful to discharge any fireworks within 50 feet of any gasoline pump.
The Fire Chief or a law enforcement officer is authorized to seize and confiscate all fireworks that are in violation of the city codes.
The City of Colby wants everyone to have a fun and safe holiday. Happy 4th of July.

The Colby Police Department has taken several reports of trespassing, vandalism, and littering on railways in the City of Colby. They would like to remind the community that railways are private property and the trespassing on, damaging of or leaving items on the railway could result in contact from the police department and/or criminal charges.

Upgrades are being done on the intersection of 2nd and Range starting June 4th. The light could be in flash mode during this time, please use caution through this intersection. While workers are in that area the school zone speed limit of 20 mph will be on from 7am - 5pm.

The Colby Aquatic Park is having an early enrollment day Thursday, May 23rd from 4:00-6:00pm. You will need to have all of the members that will be on your account present so their photo can be taken for our records. This will all be taking place on-site at the Aquatic Park.
The lines opening weekend can be long with everyone trying to do this on their first visit and by doing this ahead of time you will be able to pass through the gate quickly. This early registration day also gives our new staff members a chance to work with our computer systems and get trained. If you have more than 5 in a family, each additional family member added is $25 each.

Grass pickup will begin on Monday, May 6, 2024. Clippings must be at curbside by 8:00 a.m. on your regular trash day and must be in a separate tipper can from your household waste. Grass clippings must be placed in the tipper can loose and without plastic bags.

Colby Recreation will be partnering with Kiwanis, the Thomas County Community Foundation and Colby Community College to offer our annual "Kids Free Fishing Derby" this year!

This is a FREE EVENT for those in grades Kindergarten - 4th. This years derby will take place on Saturday, May 11th from 9:00am-Noon. Everyone who signs up before May 7th will receive a free hot dog lunch with their registration. If you sign up after May 7th this meal will be $5 the day of.

Every registered participant will be able to enter a raffle to win prizes! There will also be awards given.
