Industrious volunteers helped celebrate May the Fourth cleaning up the Hudson yesterday. The Sith are deceptively taking over the water today. Sorry for terribly photoshopping you out, Gerard, but you’re way too nice to represent the Sith.

NEW! Erie Canal and Mohawk River Kayak Camping!
8-10 Ilion to Canajoharie
Don’t miss this canal camping experience. We’ll take in the scenery and explore Little Falls and St. Johnsville, paddle approximately 10 miles each day, work on some kayaking techniques (optional), then set up camp and head out to dinner at a local restaurant. Along the way, we’ll see beautiful scenery and pass through working canal locks, including the “guillotine” lock in Little Falls.

This professionally guided trip includes 2 nights of camping (bathrooms + showers), 2 breakfasts, 2 dinners, and kayaking instruction. The trip will be guided by lead guide, Don Urmston, who has guided the entire length of the NY State canal system and Gary Archer. See “Highlights” tab www.HudsonRiverExpeditions.com

Thanks to the Cold Spring Area Chamber of Commerce and Cold Spring Smart Climate Task Force for the Shop Local Shop Green campaign!

Top Ten Reasons To Shop Local
1. Boost the Local Economy: Every dollar spent at a local business, farm or non-profit circulates within the community, creating a multiplier effect that boosts the local economy and supports job creation.
2. Reduce Your Carbon Footprint: By shopping locally, you reduce the need for long-distance transportation and shipping, which decreases carbon emissions, conserves resources, and supports a healthier environment.
3. Preserve Our Unique Character: Cold Spring’s local shops offer one-of-a-kind products and services, preserving the village’s distinctive charm and character.
4. Strengthen Community Bonds: Supporting local businesses, farms and non-profits fosters a sense of solidarity among residents, creating a tighter-knit community. You might even run into a neighbor!
5. Save Money and Time: Shopping locally saves on gas and travel time. Many of our merchants offer discounts to residents, and there’s free parking Monday through Thursday!
6. Improve Local Options: A thriving local economy attracts and helps maintain businesses that meet community needs, providing products and services tailored to our residents.
7. Promote Sustainability: Many of our local businesses prioritize sustainable practices, such as using eco-friendly materials, minimizing packaging and sourcing products locally, contributing to a greener future.
