Summertime and the living is easy! There is nothing much better than checking out the art scene, and doing a little shopping in our wonderful, small town all while strolling with your favorite beverage! Luckily, Downtown Colonial Beach is partnering with Colonial Beach Artists Guild to bring Sip N' Stroll to the 2nd Friday Art Walk! Come out this Friday, August 11th from 6:00-9:00. Grab a beverage of choice, listen to some great music around town, engage in a little retail therapy, and find your next (or 1st) piece of original art.

I wasn't able to be at the Circa 1892 Grand Opening last week but I've already made it over twice to eat and make up for it 😊 They have added a lot of fun and variety to our sweet Hawthorn Street in Downtown Colonial Beach already and it's only been a week! If you haven't yet, go check it out, there is something for everyone and the charcuterie board won't disappoint! They will even customize one for a dairy allergy 👏👏👏 Thank you to all the staff!

Hawthorn Street is home to several of our precious small businesses and small town charm: Riverview Inn, Colonial Beach Performing Arts Association, Colonial Beach Artists Alliance, VFW Post 148, CoBe Workspaces, Hawthorn Mercantile, Beach Paws Boutique, Orchid Thai Cuisine, Colonial Beach United Methodist Church Op Shop, and the Museum at Colonial Beach! Circa 1892 fits right in and I can't wait to see who joins the Boardwalk, Beach Terrace and Taylor Street very soon!

Beach work will begin Monday, May 1 to rebuild the sand area adjacent to the breakwater in front of Jefferson Street (yellow circle on the aerial below). Beach area will be closed beginning tomorrow, April 28, as deliveries will begin arriving.The beach will be closed from Boundary Street near the cannon to an area between the second and third breakwaters, as shown on the aerial. Please respect this closure, as Public Works will have heavy equipment and materials working in the area. No one should enter the project area without authorization during the length of the project. The beach will be closed all next week until the project is completed.

In two weeks, we kick off the Virginia Osprey Festival in Colonial Beach. The Virginia Osprey Festival is one of the largest festivals of its kind celebrating the osprey’s annual return to Colonial Beach, birdwatching and the area's abundant natural resources.
