We've had some questionable weather in Colorado Springs lately, but made for some great cloud views on Pikes Peak! We threw in some critter pics as they've been showing up and showing out as well.
Let us take you there

Madison, Morgan, Tyler, and Sunnie. Affectionately known as the "blizzard group". While this pic seems calm enough, it doesn't show the day we had.
They had opened to the summit. A forecast of light snow. We got past a place called the Devil's Playground. Looked good, some clouds in the distance. However, things deteriorated quickly. It started to snow hard with high winds. I could see the lines on the road until about mile 17 of the 19 miles to the summit. But then I couldn't.
I said, "okay, it's time to turn around". We turned around in the middle of the road. We couldn't see anything. This was the worst I have ever seen it up there.
When you hear the term 0 visibility, this was it. For much of our trek back down we couldn't see anything but the snow wall on the side of the road. Morgan was up front with me, and had his window open watching for the snow wall and the white line. Thanks Morgan! You were a trooper!
I would open my door on occasion to try and see the edge of the road. Sometimes I could, and sometimes I couldn't. The snow wall was our main guide.
We worked our way down to a place called the Bottomless Pit. I knew if we could get there we could get off the road. Safe and waiting it out.
The Road Crew came up plowing the road so they sould caravan all the stranded people back down the mountain. Matt and Steve came by on the way up. We chatted and laughed at how crazy it was. They said don't follow their plow line down, as they went off the side of the road!
We waited for them to return down. Safety in numbers.
While we were waiting, it did let up a bit to get some pics. Tyler ventured out of the Jeep, but mom Sunnie was not impressed with his boldness. I went with him and got some decent pics. Make do with what you have. It was COLD.
We got off the mountain safely. Thank you Road Crew!
A tour these folks, and myself, will never forget.
I had a great day yesterday with these folks. Kirk, BJ, and Karen went with me. The other two went with John and I don't remember their names.
Kirk, BJ and Karen were here visiting the other two from MO. Their friends live in Divide CO. We wasn't sure how far we would make it and they decided to go anyways. All but young Kirk had been to Pikes Peak before.
None of them had been up with this much snow, and even the Divide couple that has been up several times were amazed at the snow.
We didn't make it to the summit, but we did make it to the Devil's Playground.
Everyone made an attempt to hike up the rocks at the Devil's Playground. Everyone but young Kirk decided to stay back. The snow was deep and at 13k ft above sea level, somewhat challenging.
I went up with Kirk. This was the hardest hike up those rocks I've ever done. We were stepping into the snow and dropping at least 8 inches in places. This was a challenge. We talked about our line, but he lead the way!
I'm glad he made some stops to catch his breath, because I as ready too! It was slow, but we made it to the top of the rocks. We both sat down once up there to catch our breath. First time I've ever sat down up there. We blazed the first trek up there outside some skiers.
Amazing views with the clouds. Kirk seemed to really appreciate the experience and I'm glad he trekked up there with me.
A great time with this family and friends. Thanks you guys, a truly great experience!

Alec, Megan, Nancy and Ron. Laura, Tonne, and Jordan (congrats Tonne and Jordan). They all decided to go even though we did not anticipate making it to the summit. We got the gate and they said they had just opened all the way!!!
It's been a bit since we've made it to the summit. We actually spend more time there than usual since it's been so long. We're so glad everyone decided to go, and rewarded they (and we ) were! Fantastic views, wonderful people, and good times.
And we got to see two moose on top of that!
Thanks all! Great day.
Lizette, Samantha, and Rosa.
I didn't know how far we'd be able to make it and told them we might only be able to make to Glen Cove. We got to the gate and Ranger Rick told us they had just opened to the Devil's Playground and to buy a lottery ticket! I was giddy as we haven't been able to make it this far in a bit.
Thank you Road Crew!
We worked our way up and made some stops along the way for pics. We stopped at Glen Cove for a restroom break and take in the sites.
We then went above treeline to the Devil's Playground...which has been a bit. We stopped there and I talked to Ranger Lorraine about the conditions to hike up the rocks. She didn't know. Thanks Lorraine!
I went out and kind of tested the conditions, snow was well packed and pretty traversable. So I asked them if they wanted to hike up.
Moma Rosa was cold and decided to stay in the Jeep but Lizette and Samantha decided to hike up. This is not a hard hike, but it is 13k feet above sea level. The air is thin. And it was windy and cold. So it's not easy. We made a few stops to catch our breath. We didn't get all the way, but we got most of the way. Enough to get some great views and pics! We were the first footprints in the snow up there!
They didn't know why, but they sensed how giddy I was to get to the Devil's Playground. And they were wonderful guests all around.
Thank you family for going on the tour even though we couldn't make it to the summit. Thank you Lizette and Samantha for hiking up the rocks with me. I haven't been here in a bit.

Julio and Dana. Dana booked a Pikes Peak tour last year with us. We couldn't make it all the way to the to but got the Devil's Playground. She recalled the high winds and cold and laughed about it. She did hike up to the top of the rocks, which offers amazing views.
She and her husband booked the Cripple Creek/Back Country tour for today. Thanks again Dana! Super nice couple. We pulled the freedom panels off so we could get some better views of the canyon.
This tour doesn't book often because it's not one of the "main" attractions for our area. But I'm happy when people do book it. Shelf Road is a wonderful get away from commercial areas, or even civilization. Except for the Pink and Purple house on the side of the canyon and the garage like house at the bottom of the canyon.
Thanks Julio and Dana! I had a great time.
We've had some nice blue skies and great views! Let us show you!
We've not made it to the summit of Pikes Peak in a while. A lot of snow this winter. Most of our guests still decided to go to Glen Cove anyways and still enjoyed the great views.
Thanks to all that have chosen Mountain Jeep for their Colorado Adventures.

Happy Easter everyone!
Jennifer, Collin, and Matt. It's been a bit since we've done the Cripple Creek tour. It doesn't book a lot because it's not a main attraction for Colorado Springs area. This year weather has cancelled all the tours until Tuesday, and I was worried weather would cancel it then.
I contacted Matt and told him the weather forecast was questionable for the views and offered to cancel, but he decided to just go for it and see what the day brings.
I was so glad he did, the weather was great! Fantastic views and scenery.
Matt told me I need to rethink my advertising on this, because he wasn't expecting the breathtaking views he saw. So, back to the drawing board.
Young Collin appeared to enjoy it as well and sat up front for the last half of the tour. Don't get me wrong, we love when adults enjoy our tours, but there is something really special when young folks enjoy it too.
Thanks Jennifer, Collin, and Matt for deciding to just go for it. It was a great day and I have missed being over there!
The weather may have been wild, but we've had some great views!
Thank you post to our wonderful guests. It's been a wild winter and some tours have had to cancel. We're glad we were able to put smiles on these faces!
Sharon joined me on Ororo's maiden voyage. Thanks Sharon!
Welcome Ororo to Mountain Jeep.
We've had some stunning views lately. Winter is wonderful, but even when the snow melts, we have great views. Let us take you there.

Well, it's been over a month since we've posted anything. We've been busy and tax season has taken up all time!
A thank you post to all our wonderful guests. The mountain has had a lot of weather and affected some tours, but we've made the most of it.
