YOWLER's trek to the Caribbean was a huge success! All the locals loved him and asked for him to come back as soon as possible.

Side note: Although he was exposed to 8 full days of sunshine, YOWLER returned to Colorado without the slightest tan. I guess he is destined to always be Arctic White!

YOWLER made a trip to the tonight to check things out and to say hello to his large cousin who guards the front door.

Friendly staff, tasty ciders, tasty grub from a local food truck, and cool yeti decor.

This will be a great spot to bring your pups because it's pooch friendly... and the summer will have smores kits to purchase to use in the patio fire pits!

1905-1949

The Golden Cycle Mill, once the largest custom gold mill in the United States, played a crucial role in processing gold ore from the legendary Cripple Creek Mining District!

At the height of productivity, the mill processed approximately 1,500 tons of ore per day. Over the course of four decades, the Golden Cycle Mill produced an estimated 483,771 pounds of gold. Today - that would be worth $22.6 billion USD!

Though the entire mill no longer stands, its impact on Colorado Springs remains. The site once represented innovation, economic growth, and the adventurous spirit of the Gold Rush era.

Per goldhillmesa.com - "The iconic Golden Cycle Mill smokestack still stands today and will be preserved as a symbol of Gold Hill Mesa’s Rich Heritage. Eventually a community plaza and museum is likely to surround the smokestack as it anchors the commercial village."

Next time you're in Colorado Springs, take a moment to appreciate the city's golden past!

We have turned the page on the calendar and are now into 2025!

I hope everyone had a safe and happy holiday season, and I wish everyone the best for this new year!

I had one last donation to for 2024.

This brought the final tree count in 2024 to.....

68 🌲 specifically for Colorado and
56 🌳 for global projects

I'm hoping this total grows exponentially in 2025... but, for now, please keep your fingers crossed - as the YETI is in the midst of a pretty significant hurdle that will need a favorable outcome in order to continue providing this service into 2025!

The YETI and I visited the US Air Force Academy this week and spent a little time exploring the grounds again. This photo was taken just outside of Falcon Stadium... this is the largest falcon statue in the United States.

The bronze sculpture, known as the Belk Falcon, has a wingspan of 24 feet and weighs approximately 1,000 pounds.

Right now, the majestic falcon is all dressed up for the holidays! Or... is it stealing the Christmas 🎄 tree and Santa's hat like the Grinch? Hmmmmm 🤔

BREAKING NEWS:

Roger Patterson and Bob Gimlin's 1967 film that originally looked to capture a "Bigfoot" has been further analyzed, and it was determined that the color saturation was incorrect. The corrected color saturation clearly shows that this was Cookie Monster and NOT one of my elusive family members!

So - we still maintain the distinction of being the Hide and Seek Champions!

I was a bit delayed in completing this donation from my last booking in October.

Unfortunately, no longer accepts donations for specific locations... so instead of Colorado trees being planted by Colorado Yeti Tours, cash donations will be utilized to further their mission of global reforestation...

The silver lining is that trees planted globally are less expensive than specifically targeting Colorado... so the tree counter will spin higher at a faster rate!

Today marked the 30th anniversary of the Emma Crawford coffin races in Manitou Springs!

The 31st annual Emma Crawford coffin races might see an entry from the YETI! We'll see!!

The Union Printers Home in Colorado Springs was the destination for thousands of printers who were afflicted with printers lung and tuberculosis.

The land was gifted to the Printers Union by the city of Colorado Springs and started off as 80 acres.

Construction began in 1891 and was completed in 1892 (see the 4th photo for a picture taken in 1892) at a cost equivalent to $2.7M in today's money.

As more ill printers made their way to the home, the grounds ballooned from 80 acres to over 300 acres and included several residential buildings, a boiler/laundry facility, a sanatorium, and one of the largest dairy farms in the state! The main building was expanded in 1933 to what you see today!

Over time, the population of the home began to diminish, and portions of the property were sold off to compensate for the loss of income being generated by printers paying Union dues.

In 1994, the property was reduced to 26 acres.

In 2013, the last Union Printer living on property passed away, and the facilities were sold a short time later... the home was then converted into a nursing home.

The nursing home came under fire for some rapidly deteriorating conditions and was shut down after a resident froze to death after being left overnight outside.

Experts estimate that approximately 40,000 people called this facility home - and approximately 10,000 of those residents passed away here. That's a chilling number! 👀

In 2021, a group purchased the property for $18M and are in the process of obtaining approval to renovate and develop the property.

Keep an eye out for this project to be competed as some of the ideas are OUTSTANDING!

Spoiler Alert ⚠️ - keep an eye out for a coffee shop, possibly called PRINTERS PRESS, and a bar called PROFANITY HALL... can you imagine a brewery in the boiler room? I sure can!!!

Additionally, the upper floors of the main building are potentially going to be renovated into a boutique hotel... would you stay here? 😃 👍🏻👍🏻
