Did you know our office in Columbia Falls is one of the older buildings in town? Originally the Talbot Store. Built in 1890 it was the company store. With a wood stove in every room the high ceilings allowed stock shelves and provided everything needed by the early settlers in Columbia Falls. I noticed the little place in this historic photo from the late 50’s I’m guessing. Just between the two riders from the entrance to Nucleus Avenue. It’s one of the few photos I have found. It’s important to remember those who came before. The stories and the lives of families and businesses. It’s a great community, and we are thankful to have a part in it.

With the new snow and the solid base we are excited to announce we will be offering tours for an additional two weeks through April 15th. We are thrilled to have our permit extended by the park since old man winter is sticking around. From time to time I find myself on the east side of the mountains. It’s an amazing place with vast open landscapes. I look carefully and listen to the stories of the first peoples, then the struggles of those that came later. This view from Camp Disappointment of the winter camp of Lewis and Clark’s expedition. They were exposed and unprotected to the western winds. The weather is unpredictable and you can see it pouring over the continental divide, knowing it’s just a matter of hours before the temperatures shift and the cold winds pass by. The cattle on the snow fields and the shining mountains in the distance. I notice these things. Winter has returned, and the short first spring is over for now. 🎥

The Two Medicine Valley. It remains, quiet, open and beautiful. The winter season is mysterious. A good drive on a spring day. The Rocky Mountain Front and the ever changing weather. Swings of 50-75 degrees are not unheard of in the face of an arctic front or the chinook winds. These changes in weather can be ferocious and humbling but make the East side of the park an adventure with the weather alone. Let us show you the way. Our driving tours are a special option.

A great story about one of our lead guides. Rusty was determined to carry out the 90 lbs pack test honoring the 10th Mountain Division and Riva Ridge. Congratulations Rusty Wells and all that joined in to honor them.
