Morning! It’s August and the valley has been booming with tourists and visitors who all come to this beautiful state. We have been BUSY this season and are very grateful. At this point in the summer- please remember to be kind to the service workers who show up to restaurants, attractions, parks, accomodations and venues to make sure we can enjoy the things we love in this busy season.

If you are behind the scenes making it all happen for our guests- thank you! I hope you find moments to yourself to unwind and find peace in this busy time of year. Enjoy these last weeks of summer! Get in your dips in fresh waters and walks in the mountains. Before you know it, we will be cozied in for the winter.

We hope everyone had a wonderful holiday. Check out this AMAZING gingerbread house inspired by our Meadowlark Treehouse that Jen May made? Wow- she sent this photo to me in messages on Facebook. While I have never met her- she seriously puts my gingerbread house to shame. I’ll share mine in my stories for a good laugh. ❄️❄️❄️

It was a pleasure to host and his family and friends at both The Meadowlark and Raven’s Nest Treehouses last week in collaboration with . We are in our winter wonderland phase here at the property and love to spark some winter holiday magic in our guests.

As a couple of Montana kids who had big dreams to take a risk and build these treehouses on our property- it is pretty KUHL to see our Raven’s Nest Treehouse heavily featured in this season’s holiday gift guide for .

Long before this when Darin was working his fingers to the bone for our landscaping company we used to own/ he always wore Kuhl’s. We love the brand and the clothes and lifestyle they represent.

There is a magical time of year when the trees give up and turn to gold, getting ready to drop their leaves and rest for the winter. Had the opportunity to partake in some forest medicine today. Before you know it, we will be all cozied in for a long winter ahead in Montana. I had a few moments where it didn’t seem real today. How beautiful!

Hello everyone! Thought since things are slowing down in the Flathead Valley and we can catch our breath it’d be a good time to reintroduce ourselves. We are Darin and Kati - your friendly treehouse owners.

We had a dream to build a treehouse about 6 years ago and our project continues to evolve as time goes on.
We have a lot of availability this late fall and winter and would love to host you on our property.

We currently have 2 treehouses and are in the midst of our final build, The Tree Voyager which is going to be the wildest yet.

We got to hang with our pals Kallai and Chris at the treehouse last weekend as they celebrated a special anniversary. I loved being back in the woods with the treehouses lit up underneath such a clear starry night. Magic.🌟

Beargrass is a native perennial that grows in the wild woods of Montana. This year is a good beargrass year although not every year is. They are such beautiful flowers- I always have to stop and gaze. Reminds me of a Dr. Seuss world whenever I stumble on these beauties. Don’t forget to stop and smell the flowers.

Hello there! My name is Kati and I am the co-owner of Montana Treehouse Retreat along with my husband Darin. I thought today would be a great day to introduce myself as I am usually behind the scenes here on this account.

Did I ever think I would design, build (let’s be real the building portion is all Darin) and operate a treehouse retreat on my property? Nope! What has unfolded is beyond my childhood wildest dreams. I never had a treehouse growing up. I always have loved activities that spark a sense of childhood wonder and to keep the element of spontaneity in my life alive and well.

I look forward to meeting all of our guests and hosting you!

We can proudly announce that the boat is finally painted! What a transformation this has been from start to finish. We worked through extreme summer heat and together as a family to make this happen. Extra special thanks to our dads who have showed up to help us anytime we ask. We really couldn’t do it without you! Papa Ryan and Papa Mike -Super troopers in their mid 70’s, still showing up and making it happen alongside Darin and myself (Kati). We re-caulked the entire boat as well and it is so fresh! For those of you who are new to our page, this beauty is going to be the 3rd and final structure available for rent at The Montana Treehouse Retreat! We hope to be welcoming guests in 2025 and still have a lot of work to do. Things are turning out sweeter than we anticipated so the extra time it is taking is ok. Ever wonder how to get the perfectly level water line paint stripe? Laser level. This boat is definitely a labor of love. We have been working hard on the paint job and as we tend to do things- they always become a bit more complicated after we start. It’s all worth it in the end. Can’t wait to share the big reveal final paint job. It is so beautiful- I can’t believe how much it has transformed since we got the boat! Want to follow along? Some days we are trudging through this project- scratching our heads. Some days we have a total transformation and feel a burst of energy to keep moving forward. We needed that boost and we got it this weekend. We’ve always believed this boat is a treasure. We found out what was underneath all of the layers of paint and wear and tear. Beautiful mahogany. What a beaut! Special thanks to CJ Mobile Blasting Onward.

Meanwhile in Montana…we are salvaging a 1966 motor yacht Trojan Sea Voyager and transforming it into the 3rd and final treehouse at Montana Treehouse Retreat. Things keep getting whackier here but we live for it. Life is too short not to have fun. Was I having fun up on the his and hers ladders today? 🤔 It’s exciting to see the progress! Soon we will put the roof on this beauty. Would you sleep in a treehouse boat??
