Happiest 626 Day! Today is a day to embrace your silly, your weird, your wild, and your big-loving sides.
As you may already know or have figured out, Lilo & Stitch holds a very special place in my heart. I love their story of unconventional families and learning to love our differences. I love the way Lilo accepts Stitch and loves him as he is while teaching him positive ways to interact with others. I love that Lilo is a little lonely and depressed and different but still finds her "people," love, and accepts. And, I really, really love how so many of the characters are coded as neurodivergent and perfect because of their differences.
I've said for almost as long as my son has been alive that he's the Stitch to my Lilo and I think it still holds true. We're both somewhere on the spectrum, gifted, and have ADHD. We often have big emotions or get overwhelmed or overstimulated and sometimes struggle with new situations or people. But we have found our people and place and a movie that showcases what makes people like us special. 🩵💙
