I was so sad tonight to see that a fallen tree had destroyed part of the fence of the Davidson College Cemetery. I’ve never met any of the people buried there, but I do tell their stories on a weekly basis 😢

November 19, 1899, local teenager Daisy Caldwell dies of the flu while away at school in Greensboro. She was laid to rest in the Davidson College Cemetery but what happened next? According to a local legend she may have been victim to a group of desperate medical students and then hidden away in a doomed campus building. As I was telling the story of Fred Hobbs tonight who drowned in the summer of 1900, two ladies on my tour saw something move across the cemetery behind me. They snapped a pic and caught this anomaly right in front of Fred’s grave 😱 This was my first tour after a two week break and I think Freddy missed me and wanted to say hi! 👻💀

Exciting news! The “John Eli Brattain” house was unanimously endorsed for historic landmark designation at the Oct. 22 Davidson town board meeting.

The 141 year old home at 305 S. Main St. was featured on our Spooky South Main tour on October 26. For those who missed the tour (and the secret inside the walls of the Brattain home), more dates will be announced soon!

Here are the details for our “Spooky South Main” event happening on Saturday, Oct 26…

Ghosts of Davidson presents the debut of the “Spooky South Main” tour. We are partnering with and their annual Haunted Victorian event for a fun, spooky night out.

Join us for a 45 minute tour of some of the most haunted locations in town. We will begin at Knotty and Board (the Archie Brown house). The tour includes the Brattain house (where a creepy discovery was recently made), the Davidson Ice House (most paranormal activity reported in town), Alexander house (formerly home to the NC medical college) and end with an exclusive inside look at the old Cathey-Hoyle funeral home.

Tours run at 6 and 7pm and tickets are $15 each. Visit www.ghostsofdavidson.com/book to purchase tickets. 110 year ago today…October 19, 1914, Davidson College Student Walter Dumas and his friends discover a human skull in a column of the Chambers Building thus proving the campus legend of the “skeleton in the column” as more than fiction. Hear the whole story and the grisly details behind how human remains would have ended up in this unlikely place in the “Davidson After Dark” tour.
