Closing out National Park Week with this treasure. Congaree National Park has a scenic floodplain forest and is home to one of the highest canopies in the world. It boasts over 25 miles of trails for hiking and 2.4 miles of boardwalk. Canoe or kayak the Congaree River on the marked Cedar Creek Canoe Trail, learn about the Heritage Preserve, go on a guided walk, and stay over at the campgrounds.

It’s never too late to celebrate Earth Day. It’s National Park Week after all 😉. Let’s all continue to be mindful of this place we call home and take care of our planet in all the ways that we can. Russell Cave National Monument allows us to take a step back to prehistoric times and explore the earth even more. provides a boardwalk trail leading up to two cave entrances along with a primeval tools & weapons demonstration. There are also places to hike, watch for animals, and picnic.

It’s National Park Week! This week we can shamelessly express our love for exploring nature and the many activities therein. First up, with 125,000 acres of grounds to explore, two geologically formed arches, numerous waterfalls, 28 hiking and equestrian trails, five campgrounds, scenic overlooks, whitewater rafting, a scenic railway... Big South Fork National River & Recreation Area has something for everyone!

We thank the city of Pine Lake in and Mayor Melanie Hammet for the warm welcome during the showcase of their “Pandemic Porch Portraits” last weekend. Local artist, Cindy M. Brown, exhibited portraits of members of this beautiful, quaint community capturing a glimpse of their lives during the global pandemic. is family friendly and peaceful. The lovely weather in Georgia these last few days are reminiscent of this magnificent view of Pin Point Heritage Museum in the Pin Point community within the metro area of . This Gullah/Geechee community was founded by freed Black slaves following the Civil War. Marking the determination, resilience, and perseverance of those first-generation freedmen. The museum is temporarily closed for the season. However, definitely keep it on your list of places to explore to learn more about the rich culture and history of the community.

Black History Month encourages us to reflect on both historical achievements and the pathways being forged today. In February, we are reminded of the lonely roads of resistance that have been traveled with bravery and the promise provided by those journeys. The efforts of Black history makers have ushered us closer to freedom, equality, and justice for all. For this we honor the greatness of Black people and their contributions to the world.

A short walk away is charming downtown Alpharetta. has cool eateries all around, interesting posts of history, and a pleasantly unexpected artsy vibe. .coffee lived up to the name, bringing even more value and worth to our visit. They were welcoming, vibrant, and fun. We were glad to join in the birthday shout out, hollering “Happy Birthday Mykie!!” 🎉sipping on soothing warm, delights ☕️.
