day. With a bright open kitchen and living area, it makes your stay comfortable and relaxing. Heated by a gas fireplace, it makes cold winter nights cozy and comfortable. A comfortable queen bed, with warm flannel sheets and down comforter in the winter, and soft summer sheets. With 80' of river frontage, watch river birds, otters, ospreys, salmon, chipmunks, quail, deer and the occasional elk, who venture down to enjoy the apple orchard. Build a fire in the fire pit on the river bank below the cabin's private deck and enjoy an evening under the stars. During the summer months, when the river is at its lowest, enjoy a small island where blue heron, ducks, deer, otters, kingfishers, and other river wildlife come to explore. Right in front of the cabin, it makes morning coffee a whole lot more enjoyable. Located on the east fork of the Millicoma river, three miles from Golden and Silver Falls State Park in Coos County, and with the 92,000 acre Elliott State Forest and the 210,000 acre Weyerhaeuser Millicoma Tree Farm as neighbors, you'll enjoy the beautiful southern Oregon Coast Range at its best. Chinook salmon spawn in front of the cabin from November to January and steelhead fishing starts mid-December and runs through March. Trout season runs from May 26th through October 31st. In the fall experience the beautiful colors of nature and in the winter, perhaps a snowfall or two. Spring brings lot's of early wildflowers like the Chocolate Lily, the white and pink Trillium, and the beautiful native rhododendrons in colors from white to deep purple. During the months of July through late September, fill your basket with fresh blackberries or spend time picking apples in our orchard. In October, visit the Mahaffey Ranch in the town of Allegany, and pick out that perfect pumpkin. Enjoy their corn maze and cannon, and the best apple cider in the state. Open all year are the wonderful hiking trails at Golden and Silver Falls State Park. Hike through an old growth forest of Douglas Fir, Big Leaf Maple and Oregon Myrtlewood, while enjoying the scenic, beautiful and historic Glenn Creek. At a height of 240' Golden Falls is quite possibly the most impressive waterfall in the Coast Range of Oregon. Both falls are located within a rustic state park, adorned by a trail system and a nice picnic area at the trailhead. Originally the Allegany to Scottsburg Pack Trail, Silver Falls hiking path was a stage coach route from 1909 to 1912. Featuring a fully equipped kitchen, and plenty of towels, pack your toothbrush, and those books you've wanted to read, and stay awhile. Whatever you choose, we know you'll enjoy your stay. (We have provided several books on our area's local history, covering logging, legends and mysteries, along with vintage photos covering the original town of Allegany and Golden & Silver Falls. Hike above Golden Falls and explore the old homestead, making for an exciting day trip.)
