***HIGH SURF ADVISORY***
We have official confirmation from the National Weather Service of high surf conditions from 10pm Monday through 10pm Tuesday.

Breaking waves of 25 to 28 feet are expected early Tuesday, decreasing slightly by Tuesday night.

More information below. As always, NEVER TURN YOUR BACK ON THE OCEAN.

Dangerous high surf is expected along all southern Oregon coastlines and beaches Monday evening through Tuesday evening, increasing and maxing out Tuesday morning at 25 to 28 feet. Surf height is expected to decrease to 20 to 25 feet Tuesday night. Use EXTREME caution near the beach. Keep a safe distance from the ocean. Jetties, rocks, logs and driftwood in the surf zone are NOT safe!

Heads Up! We have the potential for a High Surf Advisory for next Tuesday into Wednesday, November 12-13, 2024. We are seeing indications of swells of 16-20 feet possible. We are awaiting official notification from the National Weather Service and will post here as soon as we see that Advisory.

Note: this potential is several days before November King Tides of Nov 15-17. King Tides on their own, without high surf, do not produce the massive wave crashes we see at Shore Acres State Park.

High surf can cause hazardous conditions along the coast and inundate beaches. NEVER TURN YOUR BACK ON THE OCEAN and ALWAYS STAY WAVE AWARE. While no location along the coast is 100% safe during a high surf event, Shore Acres State Park does offer an Observation Building that can help keep you safe and dry.

As we "glide" into the holiday season, we'd like to give a shout-out to City of North Bend - Oregon! They have been hard at work preparing the ice rink for its big opening on December 7th! Located at 2040 Union Avenue, this 3,250 sq. ft. ice rink, enclosed in a 5,000 sq. ft. event tent, offers a unique skating experience the whole family can enjoy!

⛸️Skate rentals are available for $5, or bring your own skates and enjoy the rink for free. The rink will be open through February 16, 2025, with sessions on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays, including special themed nights.

***HIGH SURF AND HAZARDOUS SEAS ADVISORIES***
The National Weather Service has put out a High Surf Advisory and a Hazardous Seas Advisory for the Coos County and Curry County coastline from Sunday, Nov 3 at 10am through Monday, Nov 4 at 10am.

Large breaking waves of 22 to 27 feet are expected causing hazardous conditions along the surf zone and inundating beaches. Northwest winds of 15 to 20 knots with gusts up to 25 knots will also create hazardous sea conditions.

As a reminder, NEVER TURN YOUR BACK ON THE OCEAN and STAY WAVE AWARE. While no area along the coast is completely hazard-free, if you wish to see the waves crashing against the cliffs at Shore Acres State Park, you can do so relatively safely from the Observation Building within the state park.
