🌊 The next King Tides, the highest tides of the year, are coming up December 13–15, 2024, and again January 11–13, 2025. While the King Tides can be an awe-inspiring sight on Oregon's Adventure Coast, they do not create the massive wave crashes seen at Shore Acres State Park—those are caused by high surf with 20-30-foot swells. On rare occasions, King Tides and high surf align, but knowing the difference is key to managing expectations.

❗Always view from a safe, high spot, and never turn your back on the ocean.

The festivities start early and last throughout the day, culminating in an afternoon and evening filled with holiday cheer:
🎉 Holiday Block Party: 3:00 PM–5:00 PM @ Visitor Information Center Parking Lot
🌟 Annual Tree Lighting: 5:00 PM–6:30 PM @ Grant Circle / City Hall
🚒 Lighted Christmas Parade: 6:30 PM–7:00 PM, passing by the Fire Station, Library, and City Hall. Don’t miss the twinkling lights and festive vehicles as they dazzle the streets in a magical display of holiday joy!

🍷 Don't miss the Downtown Coos Bay Wine Walk this Friday! Start your adventure at 5 PM at the Coos Bay Visitor Center or Checkerberry’s Flowers & Gifts. With a $10 donation, receive a commemorative wine glass and a map of participating businesses.

A friendly reminder: Santa arrives in Coos Bay this Friday! 🎅Join us on November 29th for the Coos Bay Tree Lighting and celebrate the season in style. Festivities begin at 4:30 PM at the Visitor Center with cookies and cider, followed by the tree lighting at 5:30 PM with Santa and the Mayor.

Afterward, head over to Egyptian Theatre Coos Bay for a special showing of ELF at 7:00 PM. Don’t forget to bring new, balled-up white socks for the snowball fight—donations will benefit local homeless shelters. It’s a night of holiday cheer you won’t want to miss!

Can't make it on Friday? Catch Santa at noon on Saturday, with ELF showing at 2:00 PM. Don’t miss the festive fun!

Have you ever hiked the Millicoma Marsh Trail? Tucked away just a short drive from downtown Coos Bay, it’s one of the "paths less traveled" here on Oregon's Adventure Coast: Coos Bay, North Bend, and Charleston. This peaceful 1.5-mile loop winds through lush wetland habitats, making it ideal for nature walks and birdwatching. Keep an eye out for Red-shouldered Hawks, Northern Shrikes, and other wildlife as you enjoy the scenic views. With well-maintained, flat paths and interpretive panels that explore the area’s ecosystem and history, the Millicoma Marsh Trail is a hidden gem you won’t want to miss!
