Please use caution if you’re visiting area trails! Coppell has a new reptilian resident. The city is currently working with Texas Parks & Wildlife to navigate this new situation.

Heads up, Coppell! Our Animal Services team has confirmed that there is an alligator in town, and it has been spotted in the northeastern portion of Coppell, in and around the small ponds and tributaries along Denton Creek.

For your safety, DO NOT swim, fish, or enter water ways in the area, and DO NOT feed the alligator. Alligators are a regulated species, and City staff is unable to remove or relocate our new reptilian resident without authorization from Texas Parks and Wildlife.

We have been in contact with Texas Parks and Wildlife, and we’ll keep you updated as we learn more!

For information about what to do if you see an alligator, visit bit.ly/Coppell-Gators.

Today, we commemorate Juneteenth, a day of profound historical significance and a celebration of freedom, resilience, and culture. On June 19, 1865, the last enslaved African Americans in Galveston, Texas, learned of their emancipation—over two years after the Emancipation Proclamation.

Juneteenth is a time to reflect on the struggles and achievements of Black Americans, and to continue the fight for justice and equality. Let's honor this day by educating ourselves, supporting Black-owned businesses, and advocating for change.

We are thrilled to announce our National Anthem singer who will kick off the Independence Day fireworks at this year's Celebrate Coppell: Party in the Park! 🇺🇸 CONGRATULATIONS, GRACE! 🎉

Born and raised in Coppell, Grace is 11 years old and has been singing since she was able to talk. Her dad even called her his personal radio on bike rides when she was little. She has since been in honor choir and a few musicals at Denton Creek Elementary, and is currently taking voice lessons at TRAK Academy. Grace's favorite thing to do in Coppell is ride her bike around Andrew Brown East, and she also cheers for Coppell Youth fall football and competitively with Champion Cheer.

Join us in giving Grace a round of applause, today AND on Saturday, June 29! 👏 For more information about our Independence Day celebrations, visit CelebrateCoppell.com. 🎆
