United Airlines joins the trend of increased baggage fees! Effective immediately, new bookings with United will incur an extra $5 charge for the first and second checked bags. For United economy passengers on domestic flights, the first checked bag will cost $40 and the second will be $45 when paid in advance, or $50 at the airport.

Flight Centre Travel Group, which just yesterday launched a new brand for independent travel advisors, has shut down GOGO Vacations, effective immediately. No new bookings will be accepted but all current bookings will be honored and serviced throughout the lifecycle of the booking. There is no need to cancel existing bookings, the company said.

American Airlines is making another major move that seemingly leaves much of the travel agency and advisor community out in the cold.

American on Tuesday announced that starting on May 1, travelers booking through non-preferred travel agencies will not be able to earn miles and loyalty points.

Becoming a preferred agency with American Airlines in 2024 comes with specific criteria:
1. Being on a 2024 incentive agreement issued by American.
2. Fulfilling all New Distribution Capability (NDC) adoption requirements.
3. Displaying all preferred agency requirements.
