LAKE COMO, ITALY
It's difficult to imagine a more serene setting than that of Lake Como. One can easily escape the bustle of city life by casually strolling along the cobblestone paths that encircle the calm and inviting water. Quaint little villages tucked between the peaks of the pre-alpine territory offer visitors a taste of a more leisurely paced life.
Begin your morning with an affogato (Italian espresso with vanilla gelato) and a chocolate croissant at an obliging cafe. Wind your way through ascending limestone corridors to discover local shops, galleries and street vendors. Travel between villages is easily accessible by ferry, and the views are spectacular. You may even catch a glimpse of George's place along the Como shores.
Of course you must make time to dip your toes into the cool refreshing lake water. Then gather with friends to sip the area's famous pre-dinner cocktail, Aperol Spritz. Since you ARE in Italy, no evening would be complete without a plate of fresh homemade pasta and don't forget to save room for dessert. Some say it is the most important part of an Italian meal as it is the last taste one can savor from the day. Like any of us needed a reason to indulge!
