Another beautiful morning in Aransas Pass getting ready to go catch some trout. Speckled trout are spawning and laying their eggs in the grass beds.

The croaker showed up early this year. Croaker bait fish are top-notch bait for catching speckled trout, as they feed on their eggs. Whether the trout are hungry or not, they will aggressively inhale a live croaker.

Fishing Tip: While free lining croaker, they naturally want to dive and dig into the grass. To increase your chances of a bite, while you’re casted out….gently pop your rod tip up a few times every minute or so. This will lift them up out of the grass bed and vulnerably expose them.
