If you go out at low tide on the Padre Island shores during the winter months, there's a good chance you'll find some shells, but I've seen some locals in the shelling forums say that February is THE BEST time of the year for beachcoming, so just a few days until prime time...

Crossed the street for a little walk on Ellis Beach and headed to the jetty. It was 35° F but there were three surfers enjoying the waves! Eek! It was worth the cold to see the shells washed up. I put this beautiful creature back in the surf.
