Costa Sur on North Padre Island is a culinary playground - it's like a unicorn for your taste buds! They've got wacky creative dishes for the adventurous eaters and, thank goodness, boring old cheeseburgers for the culinary couch potatoes. We had the out-of-this-world scallops last night and I'm still dreaming about them. Last time, I went basic with the basil fried rice - with chicken or shrimp, it's pure magic. My hubby's cheeseburger craving was satisfied, and then some - he had leftovers for breakfast, because priorities!
I just discovered Hemingway's, the fabulous new watering hole at The Cuban on marker 37, and I'm hooked. The menu's still top-notch, but now you can wash it down with ridiculously good drink specials. Case in point: the Mojito - it's like sipping liquid heaven, and I had to restrain myself from downing it in one gulp.
CHAMPS NEW NORTH PADRE ISLAND STORE
Champs on the island has finally opened its doors and it's absolute perfection. The wait was agonizing, but now I'm hooked. Fresh, frozen, and ready-to-go goodies galore - burgers, fish, desserts, and even those adorable quail eggs. Plus, perks for members - fifty bucks gets you a free side, a hundred scores you a pound of free ground beef. Swing by, I just did and snagged my week's worth of grub, minus a teensy IGA run.
Isla Mujeres
One of the best all inclusive hotels I have ever had the luxury to stay at. I definitely recommend however it is a little pricey.
Old car city tour Havana Cuba
A day at sea that's nothing short of a reel-y good time leaves us too tuckered out to cook, so we bring our fresh fish to Ricky at Angry Marlin and let him cast his culinary spell. With choices like blackened with a Cajun twist, grilled to impress, or fried to a golden brown, our taste buds are hooked. And with savory sides to round out the catch, we leave with our bellies full and our senses sated.
I enjoyed a wonderful lunch with my son, highlighted by the jalapeno popper soup and our respective choices of French dip and Cuban sandwiches. A Savannah cocktail accompanied our wait. The Au Jus and zesty Cuban sauces were standouts. Noah playfully warned of the potential disappearance of my leftovers. The Savannah cocktail's subtle flavor and lightness made it a delight, avoiding excessive sweetness. The experience was so enjoyable I could have spent the entire afternoon there.
