I've been looking for a larger table for the townhouse for a couple months and was excited when I realized I already had exactly what I needed! This table was purchased on an antiquing trip with my girlfriends in 2013. It's been a favorite of mine - a place that many meals and card games have happened. I loved the style, but it was going to need a makeover.
I spent the last 3 days scraping and sanding 4 layers of paint and stain off. Several times I wanted to give up but continued because I knew it belonged here. As I sanded away, I was unsure how it would turn out. What if there were stains underneath, or areas I couldn't remove the layers? Then it occurred to me... we all have scars and marks that show our past. It's what makes us us and tells our story. I decided not to worry about the "imperfections" and left some paint and stains on the table to tell its story. I pray as families and friends gather around this table to share food and laughter, they will also share a little of their own story.
