Until further notice from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Beaver Lake Project Office, the Prairie Creek and Horseshoe Bend campgrounds and day use areas are closed. The boat ramps for both locations will remain open. Rocky Branch campground is also closed however, the day use area and boat ramp remain open.
Prairie Creek and Horseshoe Bend will be closed until further notice as damage continues to be assessed. Based on current estimates the closure is expected to last for several months. Rocky Branch is expected to reopen in a week.
Staff at the Beaver Lake Project Office are notifying and refunding visitors with reservations at the affected campgrounds. We regret any inconveniences this may cause but believe the closures are necessary to ensure park safety.
Visitors at these locations who have undamaged campers or recreational vehicles can access them and remove them. Visitors with damaged campers or recreational vehicles will be contacted by the project office to work on a plan for the damaged vehicle’s removal.
Visitors should be aware that there are several campgrounds that have received minor damage and are still open but may have limited services. Starkey, Lost Bridge North, and Lost Bridge South are open but have no electricity, water or restrooms.
Dam Site Lake, Dam Site River, Indian Creek, Hickory Creek, and War Eagle are all open with power and water available.
