It’s been a great 2024 so far. I haven’t posted on Facebook since March & this is why! I Have really enjoyed my time on the water so far this year with some really great people. Thank you so much for your support. We are taking a short break the first week of August for a family vacation and then the 2nd part of the year starts for us! Looking forward to seeing the rest of y’all this late summer / fall! Thank you to all the other local guides & outfitters that let me take their customers fishing as well! A big reason for the success of this river are the other guides on it that help each other.

Most of my business could not have happened without the help from Jacob Commer who parted with us this month to begin his own journey as a captain in Mississippi for Redfish. We wish him all the luck in the world with this new chapter in his life and can’t wait to bring our people down to fish with you this fall!

Here’s just a few of the good ones from this Fall! Thanks to everyone who came out.

Sorry if it feels like I never post.. I’ve been enjoying a relaxed approach to social media this year (especially on Facebook) & not worrying about taking / posting pictures or videos of some of the 18-20” fish & truly just enjoying the time on the water with some great people. Also Social media takes so much time away from my afternoons on a work week & that time is precious to me.

As I wrap up my 232 working days on the water this year I’m incredibly thankful for the strength God gives me, the community that supports me, my customers that are more like family, the Guides that call me brother, and the place I call home with my amazing wife Jenny Woodard who I couldn’t do this without.

With all that being said I am way more active with updating people on my newsletter with what’s going on around the river, top flies for the month, where to wade if there’s wade water, water outlooks, and of course availability. You can sign up for that here:

Kenny & Renee had a blast landing this brown trout double. Some serious memories are made on my boat each day & I’m thankful for each & every one of them.. Ken’s fish jumped 4 times & Renee’s 5 before coming into the boat, I’ve never seen anything like it. Way to go team!

Fall seems to be knocking at our door next week! The cooler temps & storm systems should bring much needed relief to Bull Shoals Lake Dissolved Oxygen Issues & while fishing is still good in places it will get way better leading into October. Fish will begin to pair up & move to their annual “Spots.”

It’s been a great past few days on the White River working fish with dry flies with some great anglers. Plenty of sips, big eats, break offs & refusals. Love this time of year.

Kings River continues to be fishable with rain events in the month of June.

Huge thanks also to White River Fly Anglers for putting some great people in the boat during a great season on the river.

JOIN in Arkansas’s Fly Fishing Biggest night at the F3T Under The Bridge Festival Saturday Night May 27.

Fly Fishers and friends will gather in the spectacular local amphitheater on the western bank of the White River for an evening of music, food, local craft brews and a selection of 12 awesome fly fishing films. The eastern most abutment of the historic bridge forms the screen for the showing.

Guides, boat makers, resort staff, and fly shop rats, plus the visitors and locals who fuels the world renowned White River will party hearty under the stars to close out the frenetic spring kick off the joys of summer.

The Festival opens around 6pm with live music from Mountain Home’s Ozark Blues Revival band. Multiple food trucks will be operating to help patrons stave off hunger pangs and for the first time a choice of our two premier local craft brewers Rapp’s Barren Brewing Co, and Norfork Brewing Company.

You can pick up your tickets ($15 a head check or cash) from Dally’s Ozark Fly Fisher and Natural State Fly Shops in Cotter, Three Rivers Fly Shop in Norfork and Southern Breeze Realty in Mountain Home, online here, or at the gate

Story Time!
The first pic is one of my good friends & customers Kc Tippett on May 18, 2022 with a 18” Cutthroat Trout, Released.

May 5 2023 I’m working a group for White River Fly Anglers , and my angler Zach hooks into that same cutthroat in the exact same place as last year. This time he’s 21” & pushing serious weight.

In almost a year, that cutthroat gained 3 inches & put on some serious weight. He has a messed up back & crushed mandible, otter got his tail a little, but he I still in there & still growing despite mistreatment.

How amazing what Catch & Release can do for our fishery. Hey Arkansas Game and Fish Commission why aren’t we practicing more C&R? Costs less than stocking trucks & they get bigger if you put em back.. just sayin..

The first week of spring did not disappoint!
Bass & Trout season is my favorite.

Personally I’ve been enjoying a break in keeping up with media posts over the winter, concentrating more time on family & fly tying. Here’s a few pictures that spread through the winter that did not make it to Facebook.

Spring is Here, Bass are moving, Flies are flying. Give us a shout if you want to get in on the spring fun! There is truly nowhere like the Ozarks.
