Blast from the Past. We have been losing too many wonderful (young!) people in the Verde Valley recently - Barry Supalla and Brandi Kautzky just in the last few weeks - making me reflect on time and the chapters of our lives. Working to be more present in every moment with those we love, who are here and now with us...
Then as if summoned by pure desire to remind of kind and sweet times, these images of The Annabel Inn B&B Grand Opening popped up. My "Ever Lovin' G'ma" Vivian Culin, Momsi Lenore Culin, and I were on the deck to cut the ribbon - and this amazing crew showed up for it - now a chunk of them have passed on, but these mostly due to old age - not the crazy new world we live in where death strikes more frequently on those too young.
I often muse how it's possible I am still here - how so many lifesaving surgeries, and months (years) on end in bed - made me so sure I would be gone already far sooner than now, that I had written my will and was ready for the older generation of my family (and extended families, and friends' families) to inherit everything and pass it on to their choices -
And now I am blessed to be living in really a slice of Heaven on Earth - looking out at bougainvillea and palms, feeling the warm and healing air, hearing the waterfall into the pool... starting to manage my autoimmune pain and hopeful for some of the greatest years of my life yet to unfold.
Who knew - on this day we see in these pictures - in these loving and supportive faces, the many years of darkness and pain that would follow for me...
That I may only begin to talk about now that I am on the other side...
And so grateful I am, to have known each one of them - and to know some of them so well and closely still.
Thank you for being there then - Rockin' Rxy (and Paul! - And is that young boy Casner Wd???), Andrea Tintle, Luminous Antonio, Paul Cate, Harvey & Bobbie Stearn, ...
Deceased: Paul Wessel, MaryLou Reed, Frank Reed, Edward Nelson, ...
