Seth Mitchell's Guide Service Seth's Fishing Guide Service loves taking hard working Americans and folks traveling through Northern California fishing. Any skill level is welcome on my boat.

We catch fish and learn about the outdoors. Bottom line, I'm a polite and ethical guide. I provide quality fishing trips with a mellow atmosphere on the Sacramento, Feather, and Yuba River. I offer fishing trips for a wide variety of fish species that inhabit the deep dark depths of our Northern California rivers. Come enjoy a SCENIC fishing trip with no yelling, poor river ethics, or cruddy gear.

If you want to fish alone, that's fine. We accommodate fishers of all types via drift boat, or jet boat. You don't have to worry about fishing with people you don't know in my boat. If you're looking for a one on one experience with a true born and raised local, come check me out. I am a young energetic guide that can put you on the fish regardless of the conditions. You can always count on me to give you a full day on the water that won't be cut short, because of a limit. Fly fisherman are always welcome here. I enjoy swinging flies as much as spin fishing. At 18 years old, I was a fly fishing guide and instructor for a lodge near Mt Shasta. If I am ever booked and you need a guide, count on me to help you find someone that you can enjoy yourself with.

Great day on the Feather River today. Enjoying the winter sun and getting a little fishing in. Had to navigate and portage multiple times due to obstacles, but we made out safe.

Nothing too crazy to report on right now, other than dead Salmon, gold miners, low water, and lots of bum trash...

The Sacramento River has had extremely high flows coming out of Keswick Dam, so it's been bogus water there lately.

Time to hit the lakes high and low, or the Trinity River until things change.

Okay folks,

My heart went back into normal rhythm while in route to get it shocked back in place. I don't understand God's path sometimes, but I do understand the importance of him in my life.

The staff at Enloe has pulled through for me once again and I can only thank them for the difficult job they face every shift.

Thank you to all the family, friends, clients, and supporters during this rough patch.

I'm chillin below the charred hills of Cohasset this evening and not in the rebuilding mecca.

Well, ended up in bummer land yesterday. Heart issues for the first time in my life at 44 years old.

Ugh....thanks to all the fools stressing me out lately. You hard work paid off dummies.

No intoxicating issues, so for those who were spreading rumors about potential for elicit substance use during the Park Fire, or heavy drinking, your as dumb as bricks and have been proved wrong by 2 doctors and a couple nurses yesterday. In fact the stress you caused spreading your crap could have been a factor.

For those agencies, non profit big wig individuals, horrible drivers, local smack talkers, and tree crews that just don't listen......thanks for the stress that boiled over.

For those who were foolish enough to say that Johnathan and I should have saved more of the town of Cohasset, well your inconsiderate and rude. You weren't there during the Park Fire. And you have no idea what WE (those who stayed) went through and continue to go through even after the fire..

I understand people for the most part, but I never support people who lie within my community, start rumors, or bad talk any of us that stayed on the hill, when the fire fighters bailed. If you do, I'll find you and we can have a Man to Man about it. Pretty sure ya don't want that.

Hopefully the stress from this fire ends soon, or Seth's gonna wind up in the wilderness alone and humble, rather than waiting for the stupid to stop stressing me out.

Short little kiddo trip with the Salsi family. Killer sunset last night and the big dipper was upright and as big as ever. Love the night mode on my new phone.

Goo day out on the front line with Johnathan yesterday. Did our best to do some local fishing in light of all the tragedy we have seen and endured.

RIGHT NOW we have these resources seeking us in Cohasset and boots on the ground yesterday.
-Local tree workers and skilled Arborists on the ground
-Archeologysts showing up to search for belongings and earn remains
-More firefighters with fire prevention equipment
-PG&E onsite and restoring power
-Good law enforcement presence to keep folks from looting and protect homes
-Folks willing to help at the CCA and school
-County and agency officials to inspect and evaluate loss

Too much to list, all good stuff. Remember, the archeologists and demo staff are first, then other resources to follow. All is good and in place.

When you think about prep for whatever disaster, check these couple photos out. Landowners that exhausted all of their fuel and fire extinguishers to s***f the beast.

Yes we did catch a couple fish before we had to drop everything to extinguish a hot spot size up, literally a couple hundred feet from the pond.

Thank you to Jason Thatcher and Ron Stone, both local fishing guides as they allowed me to get some R & R with the family at the oars.

If most of you don't know, I helped fight the Park Fire in Cohasset. I love there, cut trees there, fish there, enjoy family and friends there, and I stick up for forest tender boxes that have never burned.

Don't mind the heat, but had to escape to fish the big water with the Schertz family. Always a blast minus having to replace numerous rusted non stainless bolts afterwards.

Jet Boat is back, running, and on the water thanks to Randy at Outboards Only.

Jet boat was down for a while so we drifted, hiked, and kayaked to find fish. Excellent creek and upper mountain lake fishing right now in Nor Cal. Ocean has been good too!

I recently was given a special tackle box from my Dad. When I began looking through the tackle, I realized it was my Great Gramps's. Yes, my Great Grampa Stacey Woods. He was catching Salmon on the Sacramento River before guides started posting banners on the side of their boats. Papa also gave me my first boat, which was an 80's Olympia Tri Hull fiberglass boat. One you hear Alan Jackson sing songs about.

Anyways, I thought it would be cool to show inflation through the cost of fishing lures. I mean Rapala's for $2.67, Jeepers Creepers jigs for ¢.87, and Eagle Claw hooks ¢.43 a pack. Good times, definitely a thing of the past.

Miss fishing with that guy 😔, but I will definitely use this outdated tackle.

Great last couple trips on the Sac. Striper fishing is heating up and the Trout fishing in Redding is still good.

These gals know how to catch some big Stripers! We're saving whatever run of Salmon smolts Matt and I were catching in Redding from getting eaten by these giant Stripers.

Hopefully we'll get our Salmon season back soon folks.

Wishing everyone a great and Happy New Year. Coming into 2024, my hopes are that the water controllers can keep enough water in the river to sustain our local watersheds and fish populations.

But from the looks of my photos I have attached, I continue to find dried up Salmon spawning beds. The trout don't have much room to play, but there are still plenty in the river. Looking forward to another great year of Striper fishing.

Great things happening on the Feather River in Oroville. Might be a low return for Salmon on the Sac, but the Feather is plugged full of fish. Most of the natural spawning fish were hatchery origin.

Another great year of volunteering at Coleman National Fish Hatchery. The school tours are a great way to share how important our Salmon populations are to our local kiddos. Without our fish hatcheries, we would literally have zero fish for these kids to fish for when they get older. Thank you Brett and Bob for keeping Coleman running strong. Thanks to Laura and the rest of the volunteers for making this happen.

Empty boat ramp parking lots and the sound of crickets at the Barge Hole. Sad times for Salmon season this year on our Northern California rivers. 🤞 Hopefully we'll see better management for our rivers in the future. Well be catching Steelhead and killing as many Stripers as possible till then.

From the mountain lakes and streams, to the deep blue ocean. Were bagging limits and catching toads.

Had a great time this year on the coast with the Shertz family. Hope everyone is out there getting a line wet and enjoying the weather!
