All Done!! We did it!! 245+- miles across Michigan. 11 days of 25 mile average daily riding. It was quite an adventure for sure. Our horses have earned a well deserved break and are happy to be home and grazing in the pasture.

Day 10 is done! When we got back to camp this morning after moving our rig these two were already taking a nap. It took a little bit of coaxing to get Portia up to go but we saddled up and made it happen. Light rain for most of the ride today but much nicer ride than yesterday. One mor short day and we will be finished. Lake Michigan here we come!

Day 9 is in the books. 2 more days to go! Not many pics today because we had to ride a lot of paved roads today. I’m not going to lie, today sucked. On a brighter note there are tons of huge oyster mushrooms out here, I could have picked bushels of them over the past 9 days.

Day 8 is in the books. 3 more days to go! It’s been a long journey but I believe the end is in sight. 25 miles to ride tomorrow then 18 on Saturday and 9 on Sunday to finish it off. I think we will make it🐎💪🏼

Day 7. Don’t let the beautiful sunrise fool you. By the time we set out on the trail it was raining. 32 miles in the rain and our rain gear is not as waterproof as it once was. We got soaked ! Didn’t get many pics because of the rain. 4 more days!

Pics from day 6 and sunrise on day 7. Have to do 32 miles today, we are past halfway so I guess it’s all downhill from here🤪. Having a great time and the horses are doing awesome.

Day 5 is in the books. Another 25 miles closer to our goal of reaching Lake Michigan on the western shore. Great weather, great riding, great people. Having a blast.

Days 1,2,3,and 4 are in the books. Riding shore to shore across Michigan. 235 miles over 11 days. Horses are doing great. Becky and I are having a great time. I’ll post pics and progress as we have cell signal, it’s spotty up here.

More riding at Picayune State Forest today. Rode about 18 miles through all kinds of terrain. Saw quite a few “danger noodles” and followed a gator trail for quite a ways too. We will be heading a little bit north tomorrow morning.

Riding at Picayune State Forest for a couple days. We are just a few miles east of Naples. Kind of an interesting place to ride in the 80s it was a housing development but the state bought 78,000 acres back from property owners and turned it back to a state forest. Some of the roads are still here and once in a while you see what’s left of a house.
Saw a big diamond back rattle snake on the trail today. No pic of it as it slithered off into the brush.
This is the farthest south we have ridden and we will soon start to head back north toward home.

Riding at Oak Ridge Equestrian campground in the Hillsborough Wilderness Preserve. Near Plant City Florida. Someone (Hailey) stole my horse this morning and now I may never get him back. That’s the problem with a good horse, if you let someone ride it they want it. Supposed to rain tomorrow so we will see what we get into. Saw a big gator in the river today too.

Just like the shirt says. We are making memories one hoofprint at a time. More riding at Green Swamp West Tract today. From cypress swamp to sandy pine plantation. A little bit of variation today.

Pics of the sunset over Lake Okeechobee yesterday. Had a minor breakdown on the truck yesterday but with the help of strangers and a quick ride to the parts store we were back on the road again. So thankful for Jimmy and Shannon who took time out of their only day off to help us in our time of need.

Rode about 10 miles today. Bear did awesome letting Dingo ride through the wet section. The pic that shows what looks to be a nice green pasture is actually a huge bog that you don’t want to try to ride across. Nice weather again today mid 70s with a nice breeze.

Took a little ride last evening to check things out. Dingo loves to watch out the window. Today is laundry day so not much happening today.

Travel day today. Moved from Kissimmee Prairie to DuPuis (pronounced Doo Pwee) management area, near Lake Okeechobee. Horses are happy eating grass.

Beautiful sunset last night. Ride today 18.2 miles, all flat. lol. Saw more wild hogs, 5 or 6 gators, a bunch of deer throughout the day including a spike buck, more wild turkeys too. The pics of the trail with Becky and Hailey in front and the one looking behind me shows how much the wild hogs tear stuff up.

Had a great ride today at Kissimmee Prarie Preserve. Lots of different terrain although it’s all flat. Saw deer, wild hogs, a bobcat, a young gator, some wild turkeys,and lots of birds. Heard a gator doing its mating call at one of our trail stops. We didn’t wait around there for long. Lol. Having a blast.

We made it to Florida!! Camping near Lake City in the Osceola National Forest. Will be here til Wednesday. Then headed to Palm Coast.

All different kinds of terrain on the trails today, and snuck up on some deer also. Great day here in Toomsboro Georgia.

Got some riding in today. Nice and sunny for most of the day. A short sprinkle this evening but still nice. Found a few of these ”houses” on the trees along the trail.

Our campsite for the next few days. Right on a lake. J Strom Thurmond Lake, in northern Georgia. Supposed to get rain tonight and some tomorrow. We will ride it out with a beautiful view.
