🧡💙🧡 EXPLORING THE OLDEST CALIFORNIA NEIGHBORHOOD😯

👉 After having a nice afternoon touring Mission San Juan Capistrano and hanging out at Trevor's on the tracks, listening to LIVE music and watching the Pacific Surfliner Train go by, we decided to cross the tracks and check out the magical little historical neighborhood known as Historic Los Rios Street, and wow what a treat!!

Here we discovered the earliest recorded deeds in California. We found out the first deed holder was a woman named Palonia Montanez. We also met local attorney, Mr. Stephen M Rios, who is the 8th generation living in the same Adobe (possibly the oldest home recorded in California) that was built by his great great grandfather! He says he is a "Californio", which is Spanish, Mexican and Native American decent. Huell Howser even did a story on San Juan Capistrano and featured his Adobe and some of the homes and families in this district. See story link in comments below.

Another story that caught our attention was the story of a young woman, Modesta Avila, who protested against the trains going through her mother's land. She hung a clothesline across the track but removed it before the train passed. She was still arrested, tried, convicted and sentenced to San Quentin and died 2 years later in prison.

We are so grateful to have found this local gem and definitely recommend visiting 💎

Beginning Saturday, March 26, 2022, individuals arriving from the continental United States will not be required to create a Safe Travels account, show their COVID-19 vaccination status, or take a pre-travel test when traveling to the Hawaiian Islands.🌏🏝❤🍹
