Fun fact about my family — I’m an only child. But that’s not particularly on purpose. When I was little, my parents tried to adopt a child from Romania🇷🇴

I remember it was a long process for them. But for me it meant having a pretty unique collection of books. In addition to classics like Dr. Seuss or The Very Hungry Caterpillar, I had books like A Mother for Choco. That was my favorite. Books like this helped me understand how adopted families might look different from other families. They showed baby-me that the differences made these families special in their own way. And I think that concept can be extended to people in general. I truly think this particular book helped inspire my passion for diversity and inclusion. Basically this cute lil bird, Choco, has a mom that’s a bear🐣🐻 He also has siblings that are a pig, an alligator, and more. They are all different, but also very much loved for who they are. And I think that’s a lesson that every family should be teaching their kids. So nowadays, I get A Mother for Choco for every baby shower I’m invited to.

Unfortunately, Romania stopped international adoptions, and my parents never even got to visit. It was heartbreaking. But surprisingly enough, I get to be here for work. So in these last few days I’ve taken my book around, like Flat Stanley, to show my parents this beautiful country. I truly feel lucky to have such unique experiences in my life💙💛❤️

We all know Kentuckians love their bourbon. But what about Jamaicans and their own brown liquor — rum! The Jamaican love for rum shines through at Resort in Ochos Rios.

With your club-level room, you’ll get a cute little rum old fashioned recipe + this is the first Sandal’s Resort to have a rum club onsite. It’s almost like a lil taste of home for Kentuckians!

The Dunn’s Rum Club is probably one of my favorite bars I’ve ever seen at a resort. They do rum tastings all the time and the vibes are just awesome.

The drink menu at Dunn’s Rum Club features Sandal’s versions of rum classics like the Mojito and the Mai Tai. They also have their own house specialities like the “Have a Buck,” which is rye bourbon mixed with ginger beer, lime juice, and simple syrup.

As a bonus, it’s right next to the coffee shop, if you need a quick pick me up after your tasting.
