Line of Duty Death of Greene County Fire Rescue’s Battalion Chief, Chris Eddy.

It is with great sadness that the Greene County Board of Commissioners share the Line of Duty Death of Battalion Chief, Chris Eddy, on Wednesday, September 4, 2024.
Battalion Chief Eddy was assigned to Greene County Fire Rescue’s Station 11.

We extend our deepest sympathies to the family, friends, and colleagues of Battalion Chief Eddy.

Can you believe it?! O N E week to Christmas! Friendly reminder to all you live Christmas tree fans - keep that tree watered!

In controlled tests, fire researchers found that a dry Christmas tree can become engulfed in less than 10 seconds. And “flashover” occurs roughly 70 seconds after an unwatered tree is ignited. Well-watered trees, by contrast, do not usually allow flames to spread beyond one section of burning branches.

Now that the temperatures are starting to drop, a cold weather reminder ❄️

Do NOT plug space heaters into power strips/relocatable power taps (RPT) or extension cords. Plug space heaters directly into a wall receptacle.

Power strips and extension cords are not designed to handle the high current flow required by a space heater and can overheat, causing a fire 🔥

Recall Alert: Involving 2021 Ford Expeditions and Lincoln Navigators

Ford is asking the owners of 350,000 vehicles in to take them to dealers for repairs in three recalls, including about 39,000 that should be parked outdoors because the engines can catch fire.

Be sure to check your vehicles. Hyundai has recalled 215,000 more cars over fire threat.

The recall covers certain 2013 and 2014 Sonata sedans, many of which were recalled for the same problem in 2020.
