“We stayed at the cottage which is on the backside of the bistro and inn. It really does take a 2 minutes drive to get to it. We loved the cottage, it was clean, private, and the views were picturesque. There was even a piano to use!! The place is well equipped with walking sticks, extra blankets, fans, books, etc. Rising up to the amazing view of the mountains and lake in the distance was an added plus. We arrived at night - so did not see this until the next rising. Our hosts were super friendly and attentive. I felt as if I could contact them if the need arose. Great for large families. Also has a porch to enjoy the sounds and views. Plus a washer and dryer!! Amazing stay over all.”

A History of Hospitality

As early as the 1930s our great-grandparents, Earl and Mary Wilson, opened their home to those looking for a temporary escape from the hustle of life in the city. In exchange for free room and board, these folks would help out around the farm.

Our grandfather, Bryce, grew up in the Farmhouse and attended Craftsbury Academy. After graduating from college, he moved to New Jersey with our grandmother, Audrey, and began his career as a guidance counselor.

Each summer, they would pack up the car with their four children, including our mother Lisa, and return to the familiar warmth of the Craftsbury Farmhouse.

It’s been a little bit since we posted about the House at the Ledges.

If you are planning a visit to the Northeast Kingdom this winter and are looking for a cozy cabin in the woods to call home base, the House at the Ledges is just minutes from the Farmhouse and !
