In Abilene Kansas yesterday my aunt took my Grandpa to a WW2 ceremony, “Major General Stanton taking a knee to hand dad his personal coin”

We could not be more proud to have this man as our patriarch. I would fall asleep on his lap while I listened to cowboy bill stories, we watched ku men’s basketball, picnicked under spruce trees and hiked into back country simply to throw rocks into the “rivers” ~ first he was a young man in a world war, a husband worthy of role model status, then a daddy to my mom and aunt, then the very best gpa to me, and now a great gpa to my veteran son and daughter. How lucky are we 🇺🇸♥️

I sent our guest a message asking if he had seen my little s**g pup, she went with me to clean the cabin but sold out to check on her new bestie. He sent this in reply. If there’s anything I love more than a great and loving cow dog, it’s a returning guest that loves our dogs too. Thanks for being awesome y’all, Tishamingo is missing you already…

was surrounded with friends as she signed copies of her first novel at the HQ. We are so lucky to have her in our circle, not only is she an incredible talent, she’s a stunner of a human too.

On a personal note, I consider Rachel one of the most brave, most gracious, and most kind people I have the honor of loving. She lights up every room and inspires me to use honesty as a healer… this was a magical night as we welcomed a houseful!

With an overall snowpack at 106% and a perfect people pack of virtually 0% it’s a fabulous place to catch an eclipse. 🌖

This is for me. When I get busy I put down the water and pick up the sweets and the saltys and really whatever is in whirlwind reach. I focus a lot on giving our guests a loving and clean environment where I imagine healthy eats come easy, cooked with your loves, slowly and spicily (word?) like I think meals should be. But getting y’all there, sometimes means I sacrifice my own, and that’s just silly. So today, I’m reminding myself - check yoself, fill that cup! Then I can enjoy alongside you those artful, tasty, fresh whips in that shiney boujee kitchen instead of clapping from under the troll bridge.

When we hung this chair I envisioned a reading nook, a quiet place to catch the first sun rays hitting the mountainside. A sweet corner away from the rest to finish another chapter and sip a hot chai. Maybe a fun chair for the kids, or the teenagers, or even the gma that simply wants to watch the light change on the blue spruce while the deer and elk graze.

But here we are. In Boones world.

We skipped town for a rare long weekend getaway. This is me and Tishamingo on a high mountain mesa somewhere west of Santa Fe. I used my superhost bonus to book a couple airbnbs and as sweet as they are, it reaffirms we really do offer a special experience with our clean standard and peaceful location that truly gives you time without any hustle and bustle within eyesight or earshot… I forget how truly special (and essential) that can be. So we will enjoy the fabulous food, treasure hunts, hikes in different backcountry even though there’s always a road or house in sight, but honey hold the reins, I’m already ready to get back to our mountain paradise. Come on up and we will share it with you 💙

A young beautiful bride left the sweetest surprise. I saw her one early morning on my drive to town. She came off the mountain fresh and beautiful with a fistful of these tiny jewels from God. When I walked in the west master bath my heart just exploded. Thanks sis, you made my week 🌸

Summer nights… we had to say “see ya next year” to some incredible friends. If you know me you know I do not do good byes. Getting to spend some good time with them, hearing what’s on their hearts, hearing laughter from every room… this is love, and it’s easy, they make it easy. Same time next summer 🫶🏻

Nostalgia is a funny thing. This was taken almost 20 years ago on a day spent connecting with my daughter, connecting with the mountains, connecting with myself. I couldn’t imagine a day that my girl would be grown and gone or this dog would no longer be by my side. I still have my mountains, I still see my girl, and this boy sent from Heaven and since returned- still walks with me. Creede is a special place, you’ll find love, lose love, and hopefully love yourself along the way. I’m refocusing on loving more. If you have a good dog, give him an extra snug for me and Jethro 🖤

One last cup of ambition before the marathon summer of sharing this absolute Heaven on Earth. We LOVE to welcome families, but we love to soak up all the grace for ourselves every once in awhile too. Blessed problem to have I guess, we prayed for this. Here’s to the making of a million memories this summer friends 🫶🏻

Sometimes, I look at this and just get teary. So many emotions. I dreamed about this very wall, then our contractor SHOWED UP for it. My husband researched for the colored stucco. The sweet little senora that trusted me against all odds to “keep adding pigment” with a gleam in her eye. A friend that randomly calls to bring over a plant too big for their home. An old brown pot tossed to the side outside in the weather for years. Bring it all to me and I’ll turn that energy into a favorite place. Y’all do it everyday, this day- I’m proud, and grateful, and a little sad to be cleaning while the hubs is branding… can you tell?

Yesterday I was reminded that love wins.

It’s February, Groundhog Day snow storms and worn out Netflix nights have me jonesin for spring. Then I meet Fallon. The breath of fresh air that promises warm days filling my cup in the saddle and mountainsides.

She says so ever nonchalantly “we’re going to celebrate our elopement” and in celebration I order the flowers and pick out the bubbly. Our conversations over a long weekend were kind but brief, they were celebrating with family and my life has distractions… then I get a ding from my phone. I open her message to see the fourth and last image in this post and my eyes just spring tears. Look at them. Their love just radiates. I’m taken in wondering what are they thinking about, planning, peacefully expecting? I knew they brought their family along to celebrate. I knew they were special from the beginning. What I didn’t know, was how much their simple but gorgeous photos would re-inspire me and remind me that life, even if mundane at times, is a split second from bringing you to your knees. A heartbeat from the connection that brings you back to relationship. I needed them more than they needed this space, it just took them trusting us to realize it.

May your everyday be blessed new friends. I wish I could convey the meaning of your moments here 🕊️
