Caution! Vulnerability Post ❤️

The past few months have been incredibly tough. I lost my two best friends, Cudder and Tally, who were by my side for 14 and 12 years, and then Hurricane Helene shut down the glamping business I poured my heart into building.

It’s been a challenging time, but instead of sinking into self-doubt and negativity, I’ve been grounding myself in nature and focusing on better questions. The one driving me right now is: How can I create an even better experience for our guests?

Glamping Wild was born from my desire to offer a unique, comfortable way to disconnect and reset in nature—something that’s been my own North Star as I've navigated this crazy thing called life. That mission hasn’t changed.

I’m working on new offerings, like on-site forest bathing and a wilderness tea experience, for spring 2025. But I’d love your input!

I haven't yet been able to lay my eyes on things in person just yet, but I have confirmed that Glamping Wild has suffered some damages that will keep us closed for the foreseeable future. If you are one of our guests booked for October or November, we will be in touch as quickly as possible regarding your reservation. It's heartbreaking to have things shut down as they have just finally begun, but my heart is also grateful that the damage was not worse than it was. So many people have lost absolutely everything, including pets and loved ones. My heart aches for everyone who has suffered any kind of loss from this terrible storm. Please keep Western North Carolina in your heart and prayers. 🙏🏻💔

I'm taking a day for myself today...to reflect, grieve, heal, fill myself with gratitude...in my favorite place. The favorite place of the three of us. Watching the butterflies continue to flutter, the birds continue to fly, the leaves starting their beautiful graceful fall from the trees, the breeze caress my broken heart. I've always felt the souls of my loved ones were in the breeze. Thank you soooo much to everyone who has reached out to check on me. I can't respond today but I appreciate your caring and concern for me. I'm not ok today, but I definitely will be. The grief we suffer when they leave us is the price we pay for the unconditional love and happiness they bring to us during their lives. It's a price I am paying with gratitude. Cudder and Tally, you were such a gift to me. I'm lucky for every moment I shared with you. ❤️❤️

I'm not gonna lie! The last several months have been hectic. I let a lot of things go (healthy eating, exercise, reading, meditation), and was experiencing a lot of stress and frustration, whilst (.bedding) trying to get Glamping Wild open for business! While I still feel there is a lot to do to bring the glampground to my idea of "perfection", I have committed to enjoy my time here as I continue to work towards the ideal Glamping experience for our guests. First commitment to self....enjoy my coffee on the deck, whilst listening to the birds and the stream, and never, ever show up at another book club meeting without having read the book!!

Well, finally had a chance to check out the upper ridge hiking trails. The first half entering from the South side of the wetlands was pretty good. Just branches and leaves to be cleared of the trail. But as soon as I got to the most northern third of the trail, there were so many massive huge trees down it was an incredible sight to see. Included was my favorite Northern Red Oak, part of our interpretive walking trail, that was basically four very large trees growing out of one massive trunk and probably at least 150 years old. Feeling so lucky that the only trees that went down were up in the ridge and away from all the structures. Mother Nature is to be feared and respected. 🙏🏻 #helene #ashecountync #blueridgemountains
