Originally an 1895 boarding house in the gold mining camp of Kiddville (long ago abandoned), the house was remodeled and turned into a private home/ranch in the 1930's. In 2007, the home was again remodeled and modernized. The original assay office, caretakers quarters, barn/corral, and cabins are yet on the 38 privately owned acres, 8 miles NW of Custer, SD on six miles of well maintained gravel
road. Visitors have unlimited access to 5 of the 38 private acres, and the house yard adjoins the public Black Hills National Forest. The area abounds with wildlife--deer, elk, turkeys, squirrels, birds,... The setting is very private for there are no other inhabited dwellings on the 38 acres! Rates are for two guests $145/night during high season May-October. Additional charge of $20 per person per night beyond two guests. Lodging tax is 5.5%
STURGIS RALLY RATES are $165/night Aug 4-14 for two guests. Additional charge of $45 per guests/night beyond two guests. Pets are $5/night. Pet owner is responsible for any damages. CLOSED NOVEMBER THROUGH APRIL due to snow. The three bedrooms are on the second floor with the full bath. The main floor hosts the living room, kitchen, dining room, laundry area, porch, and small sun room. Upon request, a queen air bed can be provided on the main floor near the dining room. Two of the bedrooms have queen beds, the third bedroom has two twin beds. The Vacation Home is a modest, clean, friendly, down to earth ranch house, in an unbelievably beautiful, remote location. Enjoy the clean smell of pine, absence of human noises, and the sight of the stars with no street lights!
