Finishing off my "what I loved about my group travel experience" series..

I loved traveling alone without being alone.

For my trip to Italy recently, I went as a travel advisor to experience group travel just as my clients experience group travel. Often times with these work trips I can bring Greg, my husband, or a friend along for the adventure though not this time. I ventured off all alone across the Atlantic with a large dose of excitement and a bit of anxiousness not knowing a single person in the group I'd be joining. Those nerves lasted about one day as I was quickly reminded...these are my people! All advisors of course but more than that, lovers of travel, adventure, culture, food, learning, etc. And I was in the best of hands with a Travel Director and the local guides taking care of us each step of the way, guiding us safely and efficiently to enjoy the amazing gems that Italy had to offer. These people became part of my experience in the best way possible! A few I'll not forget and hopefully get to travel with again in the future.

Another favorite highlight of my guided tour with TTC was the “Dine at Home” and “Be My Guest” experiences both unique to Insight Vacations and Trafalgar Travel. With these, we were graciously welcomed into the home of locals and served a delicious homemade, authentic meal.
Our first was a Welcome Celebration dinner in Rome with a four course meal, singing, and storytelling. And the second was a tour of Castello del Trebbio winery in the Tuscany region and a home cooked meal by the family that currently resides in the castle. We heard stories of their lives, family, history and culture all while filling our bellies with amazing food and of course..wine! A toast of Lemoncello to say farewell and memories to last a lifetime!

Sharing this week all the things I LOVED about the guided touring I experienced with and a few weeks ago...

Way up on the list was our Travel Director extraordinaire, Guiseppe, and his trusty sidekick and motor-coach captain, Santiago. They took exceptional care of us throughout our journey through Italy! Guiseppe went above and beyond to ensure every need, challenge and requests were taken care of. As a local, he taught us so much about his culture, made sure we knew how to speak a little conversational Italian and offered many wonderful insights and recommendations throughout the trip. Especially during our free time, we felt as though a personal friend was giving us those "insider" tips only locals would know. He even rode back into town with me in a taxi when I wasn't quite done shopping and also stopped in to the restaurant he recommended to tell us what items on the menu were most authentic to the region. 🤗

Santiago made us feel safe traveling on the motor coach, even through some VERY tight spots and our luggage magically appeared in our rooms without us lifting a finger thanks to him.

They truly made our trip wonderful and I'll never forget our time with them both!

You can count on a fabulous Travel Director and Driver to be on every guided tour offered through a TTC brand such as Insight Vacations or Trafalgar and I assure they will be the cherry on top of an extraordinary vacation!

Who's never been on a guided tour vacation??

That was me until a couple of weeks ago when I was invited to experience the TTC tour brands and all they have to offer travelers of every type. If you followed along on my travel through Italy you saw IT WAS AMAZING!

On my recent trip to Italy, our Make Travel Matter experience lead us to Marta and the Giuditta Brozzetti Laboratory in Perugia. Marta is a fourth generation weaver and one of the last in Italy to still use traditional looms to create beautiful Umbrian textiles. Her efforts teamed with TTC's support is keeping this ancient tradition alive. Such a special opportunity for us to witness her passion and dedication. I'm in awe still!
