One of our fave things to bring home from our adventures are recipes or new dishes to recreate at home.

Every time I am in Tuscany, I tell myself that I am going to try to make the Tuscan Farro Soup and I have never actually gotten around to it. But today I finally made it. It was hearty and flavorful and satisfying just like the one we eat at the farm in Tuscany! I think my recipe needs a little perfecting, but it was fun to try and to use the ingredients we have brought home too.

Happy New Year! I would like to start the new year by introducing myself.

I am Leah, owner and Chief Adventure Curator of Flipflops and Adventures. Our small group tours focus on authentic experiences and delicious local food and drink. I absolutely thrive on creating unique experiences and priceless memories for my guests on our tours!

I personally scout each destination in advance to find us the best accommodations, food and drinks, local guides and interesting ways to learn about a destination, then I create an epic itinerary and invite you to join in on the fun! Your only job is to sign up for a spot, invite some friends, and book your travel to meet us in the starting destination. I handle the rest of the details.

I like to say my tours are a little bit like a grown up summer camp experience! You sign up knowing nobody or a couple of people and you come and meet fellow adventure and food lovers, where you share amazing experiences and bond over creating these awesome memories together, and then you go home with amazing new friends. Most of the time people end up taking more trips together in the future with people they meet on their Flipflops and Adventures tour.

We do things like sleep in luxury castle hotels and have high tea and private falconry lessons in Ireland, get exclusive access behind the velvet rope in ancient libraries and relax in beer spas in the Czech Republic, stay on a working farm in the heart of Tuscany and take cooking classes and taste wine with farm to table dinners everynight. I love to find idyllic little old towns that really encapsulate a dream version of our destination and make sure we spend time like we are in our own fairy tale.

🍺 Did you know that the Czech Republic is renowned as the top beer drinking nation and consumes more beer per capita than any other country?

🍻 They love their beer and are credited with the creation of Pilsen and Budweiser styles of beer and have been brewing it there since the year 993!

🇨🇿 On my upcoming Czech Charm tour, we will enjoy Czech beer, plus relax in a beer spa and be immersed in the fun and colorful Czech culture over Easter break! We will also experience lively Easter markets and festivals, medieval villages and castles🏰 (with bears living in the castle moat 🐻) wine tastings, gypsy bars and live music and so much more!

Missing the Christmas Markets and magical Salzburg this week plus our Christmas travel friends.

But I am THRILLED that a visit to Salzburg has my kids asking if we can watch Sound of Music this week!!!

I said ABSOLUTELY we can! Are you a fan of Sound of Music or would rather skip it?

I never really thought of it as a Christmas movie until we went to the markets in Salzburg the last couple of years. But as a musical theater lover and someone who grew up performing in musical theater, 🎭 I am happy for an excuse to watch it again (and singalong 🎶)!

Who wants to come with me on my Czech Charm adventure to play one of our fave games?!

We love to go to the Easter Markets together, pick a meeting spot and then all go pick a different delicious market snack. We meet back at the table and share and taste all the treats. It’s so delish and so much fun!!

We will also explore quaint medieval villages, tour castles, experience an Easter festival, have a picnic in the vineyards in Czech wine country, relax in a beer spa, and have a private entrance to an ancient and beautiful library straight out of Beauty and the Beast or Harry Potter!

I ❤️ Slovenia!! It’s an absolute trip highlight anytime we stop here and we can’t get enough. This time we explored Lake Bled, Bled Castle and Ljubljana.

🎄Came home today from an adventure that was full of Christmas cheer(s) 🍻 and magic.

🇭🇺 🇭🇷 We had so much fun experiencing the festivities in Budapest, Hungary, Zagreb in Croatia, Bled in Slovenia and Salzburg in Austria. 🇸🇮 🇦🇹

❄️ We ate the best market snacks, made awesome new friends, enjoyed the thermal baths in Budapest, had some surprise snow, took a row boat to the island in Lake Bled and so much more!🎄

❄️ My littlest adventure buddy has been asking me for the last few weeks to please take her somewhere that she can see real snow and make a snow angel. I told her we would try to do that soon.

I was NOT planning for a lot of snow on our drive from Slovenia to Austria this morning. But it happened and slowed us down and put us behind schedule. It was totally worth it when we stopped for our bus driver to take a mandatory rest and there was a patch of clean brand new snow right in front of us in the parking lot.

I told her, here is your chance! Are you ready to make a snow angel? We seized the moment and she was so excited! It was such a fun little moment and she told everyone in our group, “I made a snow angel!!!”

I hope this helps her continue to seize the moment and always make the memory when the opportunity presents itself as she grows up! ⛄️
