Sculpin, whitefish and tasty sand dabs have really helped carry us through the last couple months. We're excited to add sheephead into the counts tomorrow and we are anxiously awaiting the rockfish season April 1st!

Back to our roots! What a fun morning at the San Clemente Pier celebrating San Clemente Day with the annual Youth Fishing Derby! Kids came out and had a blast fishing for prizes and enjoying some fun in the great outdoors! Thank you for all your work and for your continued support!

Carolina rigs and reverse dropper loops have been the productive setups for the bass anglers. The live anchovy has absolutely been the best bait choice and proper hook size like 2's and 4's have been effective!

THANK YOU ALL! Yesterday marked a significant victory for recreational anglers! We deeply appreciate all your comments, letters, and calls to the Fish and Game Commission regarding our barred sand bass . Donna Kalez, and Captain Brian Woolley traveled to Sacramento with the Sportfishing Assoc. of California , and Coastal Conservation Association of California to participate in the meeting and engage with the commissioners.

We are thrilled to announce that the commissioners, alongside the department, have agreed to reduce the sandbass limit by only one, establishing a new bag limit of four sandbass starting in June. Adoption hearing will be April 16-17 and we will attend. We extend our gratitude to all the commissioners for their insightful remarks, particularly Darius Anderson, who highlighted the challenges faced by small businesses and emphasized the need to address the "death by a thousand cuts" issue. We also thanks Dr Craig Shuman Marine Region Manager for Fish and Game for his dedication and remarks about how we need to continue to work together.

It was a promising day for recreational fishing. Our founder, Don Hansen, whose favorite fish was the Sand bass dedicated his life to advocating for fishing rights for anglers, and we are proud to continue his legacy. Thank you, and let’s get out on the water and go fishing ! Over 5o people called in to voice concern Thanks to Your Saltwater Guide members who called in , CCA members who called in , Jim Holden with Fish For Life , The American Sportfishing Association and so many more. Together we can do great things.

It was a good day !! Thank you everyone Coastal Conservation Association of California Your Saltwater Guide

Although this wasn’t a decision making meeting, anglers joined the meeting with a queue of over 50 and the sentiments expressed today touched the commissioners. We could not do it without you!
