The fascinating story of the Lat35 ladies independent crossing has been told on this channel by Barry Hayes of Shark Bait Socials - but it is now time to hand the social media reigns back to the team. 🀝
β€’
Thank you to the rowers for being actual legends, its been an honour to help convey your story, and thank you to you lot, the followers, for being insanely engaged and excited the whole way through!πŸ™
β€’
At Shark Bait we tell the stories of the world's most extreme adventurers in a simple to understand but passionate way...and we are taking on new projects now. πŸ‘
β€’
If you've enjoyed what you've seen and need your own story told on social media, be it for sponsors, for your business, or just for your friends and family, then get in touch: [email protected] or DM us at . πŸ“¨
β€’
Our specialty is dealing with people who operate in extreme conditions where comms are limited - arctic adventures, jungle expeditions, oceanic endeavours - hit us up! πŸ™‹β€β™‚οΈ
β€’
Finally, before we log out, keep your eyes peeled, Lat35 will soon be announcing their next big adventure! 🀩

Today we caught up with Brooke to see how she's been adjusting to land - and it's an interesting story. 😯
β€’
Quality time spent with family and friends βœ…
Eating Hawaiian pizza with offensive amounts of toppings βœ…
Getting a pamper and new nails βœ…
β€’
All things that she's missed, and all things you'd expect. But there's been a gnawing feeling. Perhaps an uneasiness. Something difficult to put her finger on. πŸ€”
β€’
The following day she decided to go out on a catamaran with her friends...and as the boat moved away from the jetty and started gliding through the water...that uneasiness washed away, and she felt the most comfortable she has been since making land four days ago. 😍
β€’
When a person spends this much time in a tiny rowing boat at sea, feeling every ripple and wave with no escape...it changes them. This ocean has affected Brooke, and it will forever form a happy place for her. πŸ™Œ

Could you row the Pacific Ocean? (Spoiler alert...yes you can).
After a very succesful campaign, the team behind Latitude 35 are looking to support a new bunch of rowers. In fact they're looking to prepare, train, and support multiple teams to enter the Great Pacific Race in two years time - and they want YOU to get in touch.
You may be suprised to hear that being able to row is NOT a pre-requisite at this stage. You will have to learn to row, in fact you'll have to learn to do lots of things; ocean safety, how to operate a radio, what all the strange lights mean on boats and buoys, and many other things. But it's all acheivable inside the 2 year time frame.
Ocean rowers have been under 18 and over 70 years old, some began as ultra athletes, but some began as a bunch of mom's that weren't very sporty. Rowing an ocean will push you to your limits, but whilst it is an extreme project, it is a realistic project, and a life-changing experience for anyone that takes it on.
If the idea of doing this stirs something inside of you, or even if you just want to see more inspiring people pit themselves against the greatest ocean on the planet - follow and message them now for more information - alternatively e-mail [email protected]

Remember when you were watching the live stream and it was mega emotional but you were just about holding it together and then Adrienne and Reese were reunited and Adrienne fell on the floor and we all just lost it and bawled our eyes out? 😭
β€’
What we watched was amazing. A mother's bond with her child seems to transcend a scientific explanation, it's an unbreakable and beautiful thing. πŸ₯°
β€’
And so, after being seperated for many weeks, that reuniting of mother and child will perhaps be one of the most powerful shared memories they have in future. Two family members, glowing with love for each other, squashing themselves together to be quite sure they're definitely together again. πŸ€—
β€’
So now it's very much Mom and Reese time - sampling the sweet treats of Hawaii, and chatting endlessly about rowing, sea creatures, and of course, unicorns. πŸ¦„

We LOVE these photos! πŸ₯°
β€’
This morning DJ's parents made her and Libby breakfast at their hotel with an ocean view. πŸŒ…
β€’
And it's so brilliant to see them refreshed, with plenty of sleep in them, and no longer in sports kit or lugging a pineapple around...a little normality. ☺️
β€’
But 'normal' does not describe these people. This pair and their two team mates are now world record holders, ocean rowers, extreme adventurers. They are changed by their experiences out on the Pacific, their bodies pushed, their minds broadened. 🌊
β€’
And when you see these people in real life...they'll look largely the same as before the row. But there is something in their eyes, somewhere in the back there, a glint, that tells you that these human beings have experienced something so 'out there' that it cannot be adequately articulated. 😯
β€’
These are wonderful, wonderful people, doing amazing things...and the tapestry of life that they are currently weaving is already of mind-blowing beauty. 😍

The record breaking Lat35 women's team. 🍍
β€’
The thoughts and feelings that these four must have experienced yesterday evening are perhaps not possible to articulate in any relatable way. 😯
β€’
They spent 34 days on the water. At no point in that time did they walk anywhere, so some of the muscles they use for walking atrophied...a real challenge when you're suddenly meant to step off a boat onto land! 🦡
β€’
They also went from an extremely insular 'pod' of three other people, to suddenly being bombarded with hundreds of people trying to hug them, and tens of thousands of people online sending their best wishes. πŸ—£οΈ
β€’
On top of this, they are the new world record holders, so were inundated by interviews and questions from some of the world's largest media outlets. πŸ“°
β€’
But...amongst all this...loved ones. Both in person, and on the phone. And those connections can make all of the chaos suddenly go quiet, and make everything ok. πŸ₯°
β€’
Happiness, bewilderment, nervousness, excitment, and pure joy...are just some of the feelings that they may have been dealing with all at once. But the love that they felt, both from people they know and their followers...was very very real. πŸ’–

Over the last five weeks we've witnessed one of the most inspirational expeditions that you could wish to follow. The ladies have created a corner of the internet that is brimming with excitment, and energy and positivity. 🀩
β€’
But none of this would have been possible without the ongoing support of our wonderful sponsors. πŸ’–
β€’
These are companies that believe in what the Lat35 team are doing so strongly, that they have invested in the project. πŸ“ˆ
β€’
Thank you, thank you, thank you. For every cent put in, for every item donated, and for every supportive word spoken. πŸ—£οΈ

Investment in projects like this creates incalculable positivity and goodness in the world, and we are so proud to be associated with these companies. πŸ™

πŸ₯³πŸŽ‰πŸŽŠ ABSOLUTELY INCREDIBLE SCENES!!! πŸŽŠπŸŽ‰πŸ₯³
β€’
If you managed to get through that live stream without tears streaming down your face then you are made of sterner stuff than us! 😭
β€’
Libby, DJ, Adrienne and Brooke have done it! πŸ™Œ
β€’
Rowing in pairs for 2 hour shifts, 24 hours a day, never sleeping more than 90 minutes at a time, they have crossed from California to Hawaii, in a rowing boat, and whilst doing so they will have set a new Guinness World Record, crossing in 34 days 14 hours and 20 minutes (official time to be adjudicated shortly)! πŸ†
β€’
THESE are the people we should fill our news channels with. πŸ“Ί
THESE are the people we look to for inspiration. 😍
THESE are the fastest four ladies to row this route! πŸ’ͺ
β€’
The largest, deepest ocean in the world has tested them, and no doubt taught them many lessons which we will hopefully get to hear about one day. But right now, it's time for them to relax, eat, and give their families the low down on what it was really like out there! πŸ—£οΈ
β€’
We will keep you updated as to how these remarkable women are adjusting to land - but just for now, we'll giving them a little break, a little privacy, so they can enjoy their moment. πŸ₯°

We just got to see our first glimpse of the team as they rounded Diamond Head Point - and despite a glitchier than hoped for live feed, it was amazing! 😍
β€’
And here are some quick snaps of the crew caught from the reception boat - complete with gigantic smiles and as badass as can be! πŸ’ͺ
β€’
Now the team are heading for the Waikiki Yacht Club, where they will finally step on to land. A second live stream will cover that momentous occasion - and we promise the cell signal is much better on land than it was off shore! 🀳
β€’
It will likely take 60-90 minutes for the team to row from Diamond Head Point to the Yacht Club depending on the conditions - so get comfy - this will be a very special moment. πŸ₯°

No big deal, just the Lat35 team with Oahu to their North and now barely an hour from Diamond Head point after over a month at sea!! 😲
β€’
SO....it's about to get very real...and there will be TWO live streams if technology allows. They will be streamed on the instagram channel, and the tiktok channel! πŸ“½οΈ
β€’
The first live stream will be the team passing Diamond Head point - as far as the record is concerned this doesn't mean anything, but rowing past that big old volcano is something pretty special. πŸŒ‹
β€’
And then the second will be watching the team make land (about 60-90 minutes later) at the Waikiki Yacht Club - we'll see the team take their first steps on land and the timer will stop! ⏱️
β€’
Whatever you're doing for the next couple of hours - it's time to put it on hold - they're heading in!!!! πŸ’ͺπŸ’ͺ

Just 15.5nm until Diamond Head point, 18 NM until the Waikiki Yacht Club! β›΅
β€’
Lots have you have been in touch because the tracker has gone down. Importantly, the support team can still see exactly where the rowers are, by using their Automatic Identification System so this is not a safety issue. πŸ‘
β€’
However from a follower point of view it's less than ideal, so we'll do our best to keep you updated on social media whilst the tracker team work on that side of things. πŸ”§
β€’
It seems the rowers are currently doing the boat version of a wheelie, rowing at a huge 4.7 knots as they head down the final straight! 🏁
β€’
Anyone stood on the south west corner of Oahu with a pair of binoculars will even be able to spy the team at this stage! πŸ”

Our four heroes are now beyond the Westernmost shores of Molokai. 😯
β€’
This means two things:
1 - they are into the Kaiwi Channel 🌊
2 - the next piece of land they get to is Oahu, the island they have been rowing towards for over a month. 🀯
β€’
These four phenomenal human beings will now be able to see the spectacular Diamond Head Volcano - the Waikiki Yacht Club (which is where they will finish), sits just another 2.5 miles beyond it. πŸ™Œ
β€’
Once they reach the yacht club, they'll step off the boat, on to the pontoon, and in doing so they will become world record holders! πŸ†
β€’
Just by taking on this challenge these ladies were showing themselves to be brave and brilliant...but over the course of this crossing, with their speed and strength, and more importantly the way they have handled themselves...it has extended their brilliance far beyond the boundaries of this tiny boat. This crossing has inspired a vast number of people, it's given people something to cheer for, it's made people smile and laugh, it has even helped many people through some dark times too...and that kind of influence is immeasurable. πŸ™Œ
β€’
Adrienne was telling us recently that some of her most important influences were Glennon Doyle , Abby Wambach and Eve Rodsky ...incredibly inspiring people. But what may not have become clear to our heroic ocean rowers yet, is that they themselves are inspiring people all over the world too. πŸ₯°
β€’
Here we go team - just a few more miles - you're almost there! 🀩

A huge thank you to Caption Health, who saw what Lat35 were doing and believed enough in this amazing project to be a major sponsor. πŸ’ͺ
β€’
Caption Health are reinventing healthcare delivery by leveraging artificial intelligence and ultrasound. Whilst neither of those technologies are new, nobody has integrated them to drive early disease detection and create better healthcare experiences β€” until now.
β€’
This is a team of best-in-class entrepreneurs, engineers, and clinicians who are committed to transforming care, expanding access, and reducing costs. πŸ™Œ
β€’
This amazing group of people also saw the huge benefits of the Lat35 Pacific project: An exciting project, an uplifting story, and a major dose of inspiration just when people really need it. πŸ₯°

07/25/2022

Midnight...and the team have made it to the north of Molokai. An island with exceptionally low light pollution (it doesn't even have traffic lights), the crew will struggle to see much at the moment as they silently cruise past in the darkness. πŸš£β€β™€οΈ
β€’
Those of you that are glued to the tracker will notice that the island looks a little 'fish-like' and on the tip of the fish's fin (the Kalaupapa Peninsula) stands the impressive 120 ft Molokai Lighthouse. This will perhaps be the only thing the rowers can see of the island in the darkness, and it warns them of this low lying outcrop of land. 🚨
β€’
Once the sun comes up though, this island will be a truly stunning sight for the team as they make their way along it's northern shore. 🀩
β€’
Rather than the gently sloping white sandy beaches that you might expect, Molokai erupts out of the water with almost vertical sea cliffs, considered the tallest in the world, stretching between 3 and 4000 feet in to the air, directly from the ocean. πŸ§—β€β™€οΈ
β€’
It is something that must be seen to be believed and is a stunning sight for anyone's eyes, but for our four adventurers who have been staring at a landless horizon for over a month it will be absolutely breath taking. 😍
β€’
Molokai is the penultimate island before this amazing crew make it to Oahu - the island they've been rowing towards for all this time. 🏝️
β€’
And that means that this adventure is almost over! But whilst the team will be keen to make land, there may perhaps be a small part of them that will miss this ocean life. Whilst it's tough out there, whilst they do miss home...this life is simple. None of the noise of modern busy life, and just a single goal - keep rowing until Honolulu!! 🌊
β€’
Come on team - so close now - keep going!! πŸ’ͺ
