May 31- June 7: We are offering a discounted rate for those dates - so book your stay through ACP Vacation Rentals, then pack your bags! Here’s a Sample Itinerary, if you are still on the fence 😎
May 31: After driving and unloading the car, nothing is more refreshing than a dip in the pool. Then wander over to the beach, set up a chair (we have plenty to share!) and listen to the gentle sounds of the Gulf. Grab some fresh shrimp from Skinner’s Seafood or nearby Zirlott's Gulf Products and cook a leisurely dinner in our stocked kitchen. Wrap up the evening with family game night around our large dining table.
June 1: Let’s hit the beach! Peruse our library of books for your newest beach read. Use our wagon to make the short walk to the neighborhood boardwalk for easy beach access. We have chairs, sand toys, floats, and boogie boards. Everything you need for a relaxing day at the beach. Take a break from the sun with lunch at the house and maybe a nap in the hammock. Stop by the Town of Dauphin Island Welcome Center to pick up brochures, learn a bit about the Island, and peruse the amazing selection of books in the lending library. Pop over to the Free Art of Dauphin Island to see the amazing crafts. Wrap up the evening with a Sunset Cruise on the Duke out of Dauphin Island Marina
June 2: Make it a Nature Day! Start out with a visit to the Audubon Bird Sanctuary. Follow its winding paths and check out the lake. Watch for birds, turtles, and alligators (in the lake). Grab a delicious panini at the BGH Cafe, LLC next to the Ferry. Afterwards, visit the Alabama Aquarium at the Dauphin Island Sea Lab (9am-5pm). Learn about Mobile Bay, the Gulf, and the wildlife that live there. Chat with an Aquarist during the feeding at the outdoor touch tank at 2pm. And leave time to explore the gift shop - it's a favorite spot for unique souvenirs. For dinner, check out Pirates Bar & Grill located at the Isle Dauphine. It's a fabulous spot to enjoy a tasty drink, an amazing dinner, and an unforgettable sunset view.
June 3: Let's explore Mobile. If you haven’t spent time in Mobile- you should, there is so much to see. USS ALABAMA Battleship Memorial Park, Exploreum Science Center, History Museum of Mobile, Mobile Carnival Museum- just to name a few. And so many great food and drink options- Squid Ink Eats & Drinks, Mo’Bay Beignet Co., Braided River Brewing Co., Wintzell's Oyster House, and Felix's Fish Camp, just to name a few. And don’t miss the Chinese Lantern illuminated display at Bellingrath Gardens & Home.
June 4: Take a day to visit Dauphin Island's three public beaches - East End, Middle, and West End. I'd start out at the East End beach and enjoy its calm waters, maybe squeeze in a visit to Fort Gaines Historic Site . Then grab lunch at Islanders Restaurant & Bar before visiting the Middle beach across the street. Need to stock up on supplies while you are out - the Ship and Shore has a little bit of everything or take your pick of souveniers and beach gear at Dauphin Island Trading Post. Then wrap up the day by hitting the waves of the West End beach (borrow one of our boogie boards) and stick around for the sunset. If you haven't yet tried The Carriage- it's a dreamy spot for a glass of wine and nibbles. Don't forget to stop in the bottle shop to pick up a new favorite to take home. Grab pizza and wings from Pirate's Pizza & Wings or Island Rainbow and have a leisurely dinner at home.
June 5: Start your day with a stop at Lighthouse Bakery, LLC to enjoy coffee and delicious pastries. Then visit the Market in Green Park to sample goods from local farmers, crafters, and Island businesses, 9am-5pm. If you need a break from the sun, how about some shopping on the Island? We love the The Hippie Fish and The Happy Octopus. Pick up some amazing fish tacos Beach'n Baja, then stop in the Dauphin Island Heritage and Arts Council and Dauphin Island Gallery for a one of a kind souvenir. Refuel with a waffle from Foxy’s Waffle Bar and Sugar Den. Take a spin around the Island on one of our bikes, or upgrade with a rental from Dauphin Island Ebikes. Finish out the evening with a beachfront movie, the “Incredibles" at the West End Beach, Dauphin Island Alabama West End Beach Fan Page.
June 6: I always spend my last full day enjoying the beach, the porch, and the hammock. Wrap up that puzzle you started- we have several to chose from. Squeeze in a round of mini golf at Island Golf- Miniature Golf. Pack up a picnic dinner with all the leftover snacks and goodies and go watch a second free movie on the beach ("Frozen" ❄️). Or go catch a band with a cold drink at Dority's- check their FB page for the current schedule.
June 7: Time to head home. The trip may only last a week, but the memories last a lifetime!
