We strive to offer little touches that make our home comfortable for our guests. For example, all bedrooms have blackout curtains and a ceiling fan. Every bedroom has at least one chair, and this upstairs master suite features a recliner and a comfortable reading chair. And if you like to read, you are in luck- we have an abundant selection of books and magazines you are welcome to enjoy. This is our family home, not just a rental property, and we want every guest to feel welcome.

Want to know my favorite time of year to visit? Fall. The days are long but the temps are milder. The gulf and neighborhood pool are still warm enough to enjoy a swim, and local restaurants are not at all crowded. We love to watch college football from the comfort of our huge sectional, with a view of the sunset. While we still require weekly bookings (neighborhood rule), our check in and check out dates are flexible. Want to stay Wednesday to Wednesday? No problem! And lastly, off-season rates are a fraction of summer rates. Book directly with ACP Vacation Rentals.

Dinner's Ready is a great option to feed your family on vacation with minimal effort. These ladies do a great job keeping their page updated with each week’s menu. Lots of grab and go options you can reheat at home and serve. Everything I’ve had is delicious. Call ahead or message to reserve. ☎️

We just finished our visit to DI and The Salty Dog Beach House! The weather was perfect, the beach has grown and is beautiful, the accommodations were amazing. The house has everything you need for a stay of 7. The walk to the beach gives you time to be ready each morning and time to dry coming in each afternoon. The toys entertained two little ones in the afternoon and the table was big enough for everyone to enjoy breakfast and provided time for adults to play games at night. I see weeks available this summer. Give the island a visit.

Helpful if you are looking for something in the area; not helpful if you wanted to see availability for this specific property. We've added Excursion dates for the summer! Check our schedule in a couple of weeks for summer dates for Boat Excursions - the research vessel is a shared resource at the Dauphin Island Sea Lab, and the busy summer season requires a bit more coordination.

Often I post “sample itineraries” but this is an actual itinerary cataloging a few things I did on a recent visit. In addition to lots of walking the beach and reading on the deck, I signed up for a watercolor class at the Dauphin Island Heritage and Arts Council. Odie Tucker Watercolors walked a small group of us through the basics of watercolors and helped us each create a shrimp boat scene. It was so much fun; definitely check the page for future classes in different artistic disciplines. Saturday night I attended the Mobile Pops concert at the water tower, sponsored by the Town of Dauphin Island. The Town sponsors special events, including concerts and movies on the beach. The Town Crier on the Town website is the best source for these special events. Sunday I ventured into Mobile to do a little shopping. I grabbed a pizza at the Insider • collective eatery and enjoyed it with a flight of beer at Braided River Brewing Co. And I couldn’t skip a stop at Mo’Bay Beignet Co. for a few beignets for the road (also- love their clever Tshirts). Monday, I checked out the Bird Banding organized by Dauphin Island Bird Sanctuaries (DIBS). It was so cool to watch them catch, tag, measure, and release migrating birds. This is an annual event but if you can’t make it, there are birding opportunities throughout the Island. Check out the Audubon Bird Sanctuary or the DIBS page for ideas. FAQ: Where are you located?
We are on the East End of the Island (turn left at the water tower), south of Bienville, in Desoto Landing. Desoto Landing is a gated neighborhood of homes with a community pool, bathhouse, tennis court, and boardwalk to the beach. Our neighborhood has paved roads and our driveway is paved (no gravel or sand to contend with). The neighborhood is bordered on the west by the golf course and on the east by the Sand Castle condominiums. We are considered “gulf view” (not gulf front). We can sit on the porch and enjoy sunsets and birds. Or we can access the beach using the neighborhood boardwalk—it’s a 5 minute walk to the pool then about a 4 min walk on the elevated boardwalk to the Gulf. It’s a beautiful stretch of beach and if you walk west, you will soon be past any homes and on the often-empty beach bordering the golf course. We love it here!

Let’s be honest- spring break in March can be a little chilly. If you catch a cool day, why not spend the day shopping? Dauphin Island has several boutiques and gift shops to enjoy. Our top picks are The Hippie Fish and The Happy Octopus. Cute clothing and accessories, gifts, and “upscale” souvenirs. If clothing is not your jam, Dauphin Island Gallery LLC and the gift shop at Alabama Aquarium at the Sea Lab are lovely spots to meander and browse. Finish off your outing with a drink and a snack at The Carriage and take a peek at their gourmet goods, snacks, wine, and T-shirts. Cheers to retail therapy!
