Disney's Typhoon Lagoon Water Park is set to reopen after its annual refurbishment on March 17, 2024.

Disney's Blizzard Beach Water Park will then close for refurbishment on the same day and it typically remains closed through summer and early fall. Regardless of which park is open during your visit, both Disney water parks promise an exciting experience.

Legend has it that a gnarly storm ravaged Mount Mayday years ago, creating Typhoon Lagoon. The tropical bay is full of "shipwrecked" items, including the iconic “Miss Tilly” (a boat that now rests atop Mount Mayday), stray surfboards and more. We love the tropical theming and fun vibes here!

The water is heated during the cooler months, so you can enjoy Typhoon Lagoon most months of the year. The odd cool snap does roll through during the winter months, forcing all of the Orlando water parks to close. Disney's Typhoon Lagoon is open daily for most of the year, except during refurbishments. These refurbishments take place each year for a couple of winter months, while Blizzard Beach stays open — and vice versa — so at least one water park will always be open.

It's recommended to add the water parks to your standard Disney park tickets with Park Hopper Plus. This option allows you to visit all four Disney theme parks and two water parks during your vacation! These tickets truly give you the full Walt Disney World experience and are perfect for the especially hot summer months when a break at Typhoon Lagoon is much needed. There is also a 1-day water park ticket available, often as low as $60 a person!

Disney's Typhoon Lagoon Water Park does not require a Disney Park Pass reservation, so only valid admission is needed.

Typhoon Lagoon is located between Disney's Old Key West Resort, Disney's Caribbean Beach Resort and Disney Springs at 1145 East Buena Vista Boulevard, Orlando, FL 32830.

Parking is complimentary for guests of Disney World’s water parks, but be aware that it can fill up quickly during the peak summer season. If you're staying on-site at a Walt Disney World Resort hotel, you can hop on the free bus transportation to and from your hotel and Typhoon Lagoon.

Especially during peak times, Typhoon Lagoon can reach max capacity in the early afternoon and will not re-open for entry until later in the day. For this reason, and to get a jump on crowds in general, we highly recommend arriving at park opening to get in plenty of ride time when there are the fewest people in the park.

At Typhoon Lagoon, you can find an attraction for every frog in the fam, depending on each person’s desired thrill level. Whether it’s floating along a lazy river or rushing down a raft ride, Typhoon Lagoon offers plenty of fun under the sun.

There's nothing better than a good lazy river, right? Kick your feet up as you lounge in an inner tube down the scenic creek and soak in the sun.

Fly solo or with a pal down the 400-foot tube slides, fittingly named Pineapple Plunger, Coconut Crusher or Banana Blaster.

Gangplank Falls: this four-person inner tube ride is perfect for the whole family and takes you down a 300-foot slide complete with drenching waterfalls. This is the medium-intensity raft ride at Typhoon Lagoon.

Miss Adventure Falls: this family raft ride is by far our favorite attraction at either of Disney's water parks. It's a combination of the fun animatronic, cool props and overall splashin' experience. And we love anything we can all ride together! This one is a must-do.

Humunga Kowabunga: zoom 214 feet downhill in the dark at a 60-degree angle for ultimate thrills! Keep an eye out for the surprise ending.

Keelhaul Falls: the least intense of Typhoon Lagoon's raft rides, Keelhaul Falls takes you on a smooth slide through caverns and a waterfall, complete with scenic palm trees and boulders.

Mayday Falls: the most intense of Typhoon Lagoon's raft rides, Mayday Falls takes you on a solo inner tube ride beginning at the top of Mount Mayday.

Storm Slides: this trio of winding slides (Jib Jammer, Stern Burner or Rudder Buster) takes you gently down three stories and into a waterfall finale.

At most water parks, the wave pool is just something to splash in to cool off. At Typhoon Lagoon, it's a whole thrilling experience in itself. During regular hours, the waves are moderate. Listen for the loud siren indicating a wave is beginning. After hours, the waves are actually surfable (more on that below).

Disney's Typhoon Lagoon Kids' Area: While not quite as spacious as Blizzard Beach's kids' area, Typhoon Lagoon still offers an awesome designated area for tadpoles to splash around.

Ketchakiddee Creek: little ones under 4 feet tall are welcome to this water wonderland that includes:

Side-by-side mini slides
A mini inner tube rapids ride
Crawl chutes
Animal-shaped fountains
A cave with a waterfall
Fun animal sculptures
Bay Slides

Separate from the kids' zone are Bay Slides, located conveniently near the wave pool and perfect for your tadpoles to hop on between sunbathing or wave pool fun. Kiddos under 5 feet can enjoy these "beginner water slides," miniature versions of the thrilling Storm Slides.

Disney's Typhoon Lagoon Dining:
During the off-season, some restaurants remain closed due to low demand. Be sure to double-check operating hours, as some places will close several hours before the park does. But don't worry — there are still plenty of options to choose from! We love some of the newer menu items, such as Pineapple Upside Down Cone at Happy Landings and a Barbeque Chicken and Grilled Pineapple Flatbread at Leaning Palms.

Leaning Palms has the largest selection of food at Typhoon Lagoon, from classics such as pizza, chicken fingers and hot dogs, to unique meals such as the plantain burger and chicken rice bowl.

Tucked away from Castaway Creek and next to Leaning Pams, Happy Landings Ice Cream satisfies all your chilly cravings with floats, sundaes and more.

Lowtide Lou's: This snack stop has all of your favorite Disney snacks: stuffed pretzels, Mickey ice cream bars, frozen lemonade and a few quick and easy sandwich options.

Let's Go Slurpin': This little island-bar getaway will give you serious Margaritaville vibes as you order up a Sunshine Margarita, Banana Cabana or Blueberry Lemonade alongside a wide selection of beer and wine.

Typhoon Tilly's: Located between Humunga Kowabunga slides and Crush 'n' Gusher, Typhoon Tilly's is a seafood lover's paradise, with the perfect storm of fish and shrimp options, as well as a great beer and wine list. The Shrimp Po Boy is Leap's fave! Keep in mind that this quick-service restaurant typically closes at 3 p.m., so be sure to plan accordingly.

Snack Shack, located next to Typhoon Tilly's, is where you'll find lots of new DOLE Whip options. Yum! There are two specialty treats inspired by "Moana." The new Motunui Twist serves up some cool lime flavor. The colorful Hei Hei cone makes a triumphant return after being a limited release years ago at Magic Kingdom. The fun design and mix of pineapple and raspberry will make this one a favorite among your crew. You can now order four different flavors of DOLE Whip Soft Serve — pineapple, lime, mango and raspberry — and even order alcoholic options! Best yet, you can mix and match flavors to customize your ultimate DOLE Whip treat!

If you're looking for something savory or with a little more substance, be sure to try out the Loaded Nachos with Walt's Chili!

If you’ve visited Winter Park, you know there’s no shortage of places to enjoy good food and drinks. Next time you’re in the city, I encourage you to check out a restaurant that has that plus the chance to pretend you’re a sommelier for a day.

A trip to Sixty Vines in Winter Park is like a trip to wine country, without the airfare. With seven locations—from Florida to Texas—the restaurant pours wine on tap, so guests sip Napa Valley’s finest as it’s meant to be enjoyed: straight from the barrel.

And the “straight from the barrel” taste isn’t just about giving the authentic vineyard experience. By serving wine on tap, Sixty Vines helps keep bottles, corks, and foil out of landfills, which is great for the environment and for you. If the restaurant is saving on bottle costs, you’re saving on each glass of red.

Sixty Vines offers 60 taps of wines made all over the world, from Italian prosecco to Californian pinot noir. The taps are constantly rotating, so there’s always a chance you’ll find a new name on the menu.

You can order a pour as small as half a glass, giving you plenty of opportunities to explore different flavors that pair with each course of your meal without overdoing it—no one wants to be left stumbling out of the restaurant.

Sixty Vines prides itself on finding the right pour for every palate and the right wine to complement every dish. Inspired by the tastes of wine country, the lunch, brunch, and dinner menus include everything from cheese and meat boards to an angus New York strip.

I visited during brunch, and while the Avocado Eggs Benedict and Dutch Baby pancake souffle called to me, I went with the campanelle. The cherry tomatoes and white wine sauce made it a more refreshing choice, and on a warm Florida day that can’t be beat.

Next time you’re searching for a new restaurant to try, I hope you check out Sixty Vines. The combination of great food, great wine, and great atmosphere can’t be beat. And the restaurant is located just a short walk from Martin Luther King, Jr. Park. After lunch or brunch, make a plan to walk off the feast along the trails or just sit and enjoy the Florida sun.

So if that trip to wine country isn’t happening anytime soon, get your fill of the vineyard tastes at Sixty Vines!

If a taste of Asia is what you’re looking for, then look no further! The City of Orlando has plenty of restaurants to go around! Here are three Asian restaurants in Orlando that’ll bring you a unique Asian dining experience and save you hundreds on an international plane ticket!

Nine Spices Hotpot
Located just mere minutes away from Universal Studios on South Kirkman Road, Nine Spices Hotpot is a restaurant that makes you put your cooking skills to the test!

At Nine Spices, their dining style is centered on a cooking method that originated in China where your table has a heat source to keep your own personal soup bowl simmering while you get to choose from a wide assortment of meats, noodles, and veggies to cook right in front of you.

Even better, this restaurant has a conveyor belt system that loops around the entire restaurant and has all the menu options available for you to grab and get to cooking. You don’t have to wait for your server to bring you your food — your food comes to you!

For your soup broth, you can choose from seven soup broths, and for meat, there are many beef, pork, chicken and seafood options. You even get to choose from five noodle options!

The best part about this eatery is that it’s all you can eat for two hours! It’s about $27 per person, about $9 for kids aged 3-7, and about $17 for kids aged 8-10.

However, just because it’s AYCE doesn’t mean you can bite off more than you can chew. Nine Spices has a zero waste policy, which means that you must finish all the food you get — and taking leftovers home isn’t an option. Leaving even just one plate of uneaten meat, veggies, noodles, etc. will result in being charged the price of an additional person (another $27). But fret not, all you have to do is just order what you know you’ll eat!

Gyu-Kaku Japanese BBQ
At Gyu-Kaku, their Japanese BBQ dining experience is a little bit different from your typical Korean BBQ. With KBQQ, the meats are typically marinated beforehand, but with JBQQ there is more focus on the natural flavors of the meat with additional sauce pairings on the side. This specific location is on Turkey Lake Road, just five minutes from Icon Park here in Orlando.

At Gyu-Kaku, you get your own personal grill at your table, with both fixed JBBQ menu options and AYCE ones.

Gyu-Kaku makes planning your dining experience as easy as pie by creating menu options based on party size. You can get the value course, which is $65 for two people ($60 during happy hour), which comes with six meat options, vegetables, and a few sides.

The next JBBQ dining option is the $75 for two people “meat lover’s” choice. With this option, you get the same starters as the value course with the addition of Gyu-Sushi and Japanese chicken karaage. You also get six meat options with the ability to upgrade to prime kalbi short rib and harami skirt steak. Even better, you and your dining partner each get a yummy s’more to roast over the grill for dessert!

For $90 for two people, you can get the “chef’s choice” JBBQ option. You get the same starters with the addition of beef sukiyaki bibimbap and napa kimchi. You also get higher quality meats to barbecue such as filet mignon and umakara ribeye.

If you’re dining for more than a pair, Gyu-Kaku also has JBBQ options for larger parties. They have $110 for three people, $160 for four people, and $210 for six people.

You can get small plates with gyoza, kimchi, tofu, and more, as well as a variety of soups and salads.

If you’re just looking for a quick lunch and aren’t dining with others, Gyu-Kaku also has an extensive lunch menu where you can get two BBQ items for $14.95 or three for $18.95. If you’re not feeling BBQ, you can opt for their delicious rice and noodle bowls.

Pho Hoa
In search of something different from the aforementioned dining experiences? We’ve got you covered. Pho Hoa is the perfect little slice of Vietnamese cuisine located near the Milk District on North Primrose Drive in Orlando.

Pho is a delicious Vietnamese soup dish that consists of broth, rice noodles, herbs and vegetables, and meat.

Pho Hoa breaks its menu down into four sections: Pho Noodle Soups for the Beginners, Just the Regular, the Adventurer’s Choice, and Specialty Pho-Noodle Soups.

Those who prefer a tender, lean cut of beef can order from the beginners section and have six soup options to choose from, some including pho with round eye steak, pho with meatballs, and pho with brisket.

Those looking for a fattier meat in their dish can order from the regular section with another six soup options. These dishes use the same meats as the former with fattier cuts, providing a much more flavorful dining experience.

Pho Hoa’s menu describes the adventurer’s choice part of the menu as being for those who want the most “unusual” yet tastiest of meats with five soup options to choose from. Most of the pho dishes on this menu have soft tendon and tripe meat cuts.

The specialty pho-noodle soups come with their own unique broth and flavor. You can get chicken soup, seafood soup, and beef stew with pho noodles or bread.

Pho Hoa also has an extensive vermicelli menu, which are soup bowls made with thinner vermicelli noodles. In your vermicelli bowl, you can choose from a variety of meats such as grilled pork, shrimp, meatball, and chicken.

As you can see, there are quite a few options when it comes to asian dining experiences in this area. It doesn’t get more authentic than going to the countries these delicious dining experiences originate from though, but you can come pretty close right here in Orlando!

Is your sweet tooth calling? Indulge it with the winning combo of ice cream and waffles at the Dolly Llama, now open in Winter Garden Village.

What is it?
Founded by real estate leader Eric Shomof and European restaurateur and entrepreneur Samuel Baroux, the Dolly Llama takes its name from a real llama that lives on a farm in France and brings joy to everyone she meets, according to the company website. The waffle and ice cream shop endeavors to bring that same joy into the lives of all who come through its doors.

Waffles take up a good portion of the menu, but the shop also has an abundance of different flavors of ice cream to check out. Get a scoop on a waffle—liege or bubble—or have it in a cup with toppings galore. Also on the menu are shakes, waffle ice cream sandwiches, and boxes of mini liege waffles (so you can take home a little snack for later).

Aside from waffles and ice cream—both of which were delicious—the shop had merchandise to sell. Grand opening attendees were even given some of the merch, including pins, key chains, and a packaged Signature OG Liege Waffle.

Winter Garden Village
The Dolly Llama is located in Winter Garden Village, an outdoor shopping and dining destination, so once you’ve enjoyed your sweet treat you can pop into stores like Nike, Ulta, and HomeGoods—no matter your interests, there’s plenty at Winter Garden Village to occupy a full day.

While Orlando is well known for its theme parks, its unique eateries shine bright as well. So next time you’re in need of a waffle and ice cream fix (and maybe a little shopping spree) head to the Dolly Llama at Winter Garden Village!

EPCOT is known for their amazing festivals. They have the best food, awesome merchandise, incredible entertainment and more. It’s that time of year again for the Festival of the Arts! Disney has released everything we can expect to see, eat, and do this year! Let’s take a look at what’s coming to Festival of the Arts ’23!

General Info
The Festival of the Arts runs from January 13, 2023, until February 20, 2023. During its five-week-long run, there will be plenty of new food studios (booths) and activities to try! As always, there is no additional charge for the festival, as it is included with your valid park admission!

Food Studios
The food studios (or food booths) are always a big hit at every Epcot festival. At the Festival of the Arts, there is a lot of thought that goes into the presentation of the food. The dishes are all ‘works of art’. Epcot has released the food studio line up for this year and we can’t wait to try it! Here are the food studios coming in 2023:

The Artist’s Table - The American Adventure

Entertainment
There are so many fun things coming to this year’s Festival of the Arts. If you go to the America Gardens Theatre, you can watch artists give you a live lesson on how to draw a Disney character! There is also the Expression Selection: A Paint by Numbers Mural. If you’ve ever wanted to participate in creating a masterpiece, now is your chance! You can take part in this fun and unique activity from 11am to 5pm daily throughout the duration of the festival.

One of the coolest things to see is chalk art! Very talented artists create chalk drawings of all your favorite Disney characters. They are truly mind blowing! There are also plenty of shops set up around World Showcase where you can purchase the art of the incredible artists featured throughout!

If you are looking for a fun family activity, check out Disney on Broadway! It’s a concert series held at the America Gardens Theater that features amazing Broadway performances of your favorite Disney songs and movies!

Fun Activities
Figment’s Brush with the Masters - This fun-filled scavenger hunt will take you on an adventurous stroll around World Showcase to look for Figment! This is always a hit with families with younger kids. You can pick up a Figment scavenger hunt map at Port of Entry and a few other locations for $9.99 and you’ll even receive a special prize upon completion!

Wonderful Walk of Colorful Cuisine - This is also a fan-favorite at the Festival of the Arts. In order to participate, you must purchase five specific menu items from the food studios around World Showcase. You will receive a stamp in your Festival Passport (which is free and can be found throughout the park) for each purchased food item. Once you have completed the walk and purchased the five food items, you can redeem it at the Deco Delights food studio to claim your prize!

The Festival of the Arts is a very fun festival and should not be missed! There are so many beautiful works of art to see (and eat!) This is probably the most overlooked festival that Epcot has but it is really amazing. Come visit Epcot during the Festival of the Arts and look for Figment, see a Disney Broadway show, take part in a masterpiece, take a selfie inside a real work of art- the possibilities are endless!

What is your favorite Epcot festival?

02/06/2023

Universal Studios Orlando have recently closed multiple attractions this month to make way for a new project. On January 15, 2023 we said goodbye to so many beloved attractions, and the opening date for the new project to replace these has yet to be announced. Here is everything we know about the departing attractions and what may be coming!

Universal announced a while back that they would be permanently closing several attractions in the children’s area of Universal Orlando in January of this year. These include the following attractions, which closed just this last weekend - Woody Woodpecker’s Nuthouse Coaster, Curious George Goes to Town, Fievel’s Playland, DreamWorks Destination, and Shrek and Donkey’s Meet & Greet. All of these attractions were located in Woody Woodpecker’s KidZone and were all themed after older cartoons that (quite frankly) aren’t as relevant anymore. E.T Adventure, SpongeBob SquarePants Meet & Greet, and Animal Actors on Location! will be the only attractions that remain in that location for the time being.

Universal took to social media in November of 2022 to make the announcement that something new would be coming. The announcement reads; “Universal Orlando will soon begin work on bringing exciting new family entertainment to Universal Studios Florida that will immerse guests in the adventures of beloved characters…” Universal has not made any new announcements as to exactly what is replacing these attractions, but we will be on the lookout to see what’s to come!

Many guests were upset that these attractions are closing - mainly due to nostalgia and the fact that it was the one place in Universal Orlando where little kids can have fun. Here’s to hoping that whatever replaces these beloved attractions are bigger and better and creates wonderful memories for a whole new generation of little ones!

What do you hope this new project entails at Universal Orlando?

Disney’s Boardwalk has been undergoing quite a few changes lately! From opening a new deli, having a new cake shop on the way, and now the newest edition- Carousel Coffee, things have been looking great! Want to know more about Disney’s newest coffee shop? Here’s everything we know about Carousel Coffee!

Carousel Coffee opened late last year at Disney’s Boardwalk Inn. It is conveniently located right off the Main Lobby. It’s a counter service location so you can order whatever you’d like from the menu and enjoy it anywhere on property- perhaps walk down Disney’s famous Boardwalk!

This location serves coffee, tea, and various pastries. They also have Banana Bread, Croissants, Muffins, NJ Crumb Cake, Vintage Mickey & Minnie Sugar Cookie, Bagels, and Mickey Brownies! If you're a tea lover, you’ll be happy to know that they have a wide variety of flavored teas from Twinings Tea and more!

They also serve frozen or hot coffees including espresso, americano, café latte, and more. Did I mention that they offer fan favorite Joffrey’s Coffee here as well?

This is the perfect spot to grab a coffee and a delicious pastry and stroll the Boardwalk. As soon as you step into the shop, it smells incredible, and it is impossible to leave without trying something off the menu. It is spacious and clean inside and is a wonderful addition to Disney’s Boardwalk. If you’re in the area and looking for a new place to grab coffee, look no further!

Are you going to try Carousel Coffee the next time you’re at Walt Disney World?
