So today is the day - we have officially closed on the sale on our Florida home 🙂
A huge thank you to all of our guests past and present.
Once we get home we will be transferring ownership of this account to the new owners so stick with us for updates from the new family. They will love Sunholme as much as we do.
The calendar is now open for 2024 and 2025.
After owning Sunholme for a wonderful 13 years we have agreed a sale with a fabulous new owner.
The great news is that Sunholme will remain a holiday rental and has an open calendar for 2024 and is now taking bookings.

We were up early this morning to watch the Coronation. The moon was still high in the sky and reflecting beautifully into the pool

Newly opened at Posner Park, just a few minutes drive from Sunholme, you’ll find Honey’s Bee Bee Que. If you’re a fan of slow roast southern bbq food then this place is for you.
On arrival they offer you a free shot of a Southern Comfort and leave the bottle in case you need a top up.

Pleased to report that our guests have made it safely through the night and even managed to rescue our post box from causing damage to another home, their rental car or to our home.
Huge thank you to John and Marlene for looking after our home so well.
We lost power just after midnight so we’ve not been able to contact John as yet so we asked a neighbour to go check on them, as soon as it was safe to do so, to make sure they were ok.
We have a number of pool screens out but hopefully they’ll be replaced in the next few days. At first glance it looks as if we have only minor damage but we’ll know more once our Mgt Co have been out to complete a full assessment.
Fingers crossed that John and Marlene are able to settle back down and enjoy their last few days in the (usually) sunshine state 😁
We are sending positive thoughts to our guests, our friends and our neighbours in Florida during this awful weather event. Let’s hope that everyone comes out the other side safe and well.

The Biden Admin and the CDC are expected to announce the proof of negative Covid test will not longer be needed for international travelers entering the US.
If you need a break from the parks why not take a 25 miles drive north to Winter Garden. It’s a beautiful little town with lots of really good places to eat and a fantastic craft brewery that we always visit when we cycle the West Orange Trail, which winds through Winter Garden.
If you enjoy a traffic free, flat and picturesque cycle you can park your car at Killarney Station (free car parking - site of an old railway) and hire bikes by the hour or the day from Bikes and Blades. A lovely 5 miles along the trail will bring you to Winter Garden. The trail runs for 20 miles, so you can easily do 40 miles if you need to burn off the extra calories from the US portion size!
Or park at the Oakland Nature Preserve and take a walk along the 1.5 mile boardwalk out to Lake Apopka before continuing your journey to Winter Garden.
I cycled the trail yesterday and walked the boardwalk 🙂

Don’t forget to check if there are any launches during your stay - the outside decking area makes an amazing viewing platform.

Another new restaurant is now open close to the villa. We tried it out this morning and loved it.
Definitely worth a visit to fill up before hitting the parks. We were there at 8.30am and didn’t have to wait but we hear that queues start to build around 10am and you can expect a 30 minute wait for a table.
Sometimes this is all I need 😍
Taking a break from a couple of the upgrades we are making this trip…
Lovely to have our first UK guests for almost 2 years back in the villa.
They are returning guests who we now class as friends and will always be welcome in Sunholme.
They have decorated the villa ready for their Christmas stay 🙂
We did a few upgrades for our 2022 guests to enjoy whilst we were over there in the last couple of weeks.
- Kitchen cabinets all freshly painted with new handles and a tiled backsplash
- New dishwasher, cooker and microwave
- New lights over the breakfast table and in the dining room
- A new mattress and carpet in the master bedroom
- A backbreaking repaint of the pool deck
- Outside wood decking upgraded to composite
We wish we could be there enjoying the upgrades ourselves but we’ll be back soon enough and hopefully it won’t be another 2 years! Bloody covid.

Whilst we’ve not been able to welcome UK guests for almost a year we’ve still opened our home to those able to travel within the US. We’ve had some lovely guests who have been able to enjoy our home when we’ve not been able to travel.
