Today we met a few rough toothed dolphins.

Although an unbelievably spectacular sight, when s***m whales congregate it is often a means of protecting themselves from predators. Yesterday we witnessed at least four family groups gather together and begin slowly swimming offshore. Today, the few s***m whales near the island were completely silent and could only be located via visual sightings. They too were heading offshore. We have since learned from local fishermen that orcas have been sighted on the periphery of the island.

This is where our plastic bags can end up. To the dismay of onlookers, today we met a calf who was mouthing what she considered a 'chew toy'. Thankfully the playful girl rolled on her back while near the surface, allowing me to pluck the plastic from her mouth. The reward of preventing her from swallowing the bag was worth the (thoroughly) disappointed look she gave me when I took away her toy.
