New seawall is starting!

If the proposed Seawall is 12ft. tall, that will bring it level to the pool deck. Fill that area with the necessary dirt, you now have approx 50ft of added pool decking right up too the ocean.

The devastation to the various impacted areas of Florida due to the two hurricanes is beyond comprehension to many. We all know it’s not the first time, and certainly won’t be the last time, but the real level of damage never seems to be shown. The media only has limited airtime so there’s no way to truly show the severity and the amount of work ahead of everyone. 

They (whoever that is) try to estimate the impact in total dollars as a way to gauge it, but the real cost is what individuals actually see. Nobody can really comprehend a half a billion or $1 billion anyways. Except maybe the billionaires. 

It’s also hard to believe what’s not covered by condo insurance policies. Sand backfill is an example... Our Condo alone, lost an estimated 500 to 700 truckloads of sand! Current quotes are in the neighborhood of $1000 per truckload‼️

if you want to help us and everyone else in Volusia county, PLEASE call our governor and our local state representative and our state senator (contact information below) and urge them to quickly get rid of all the bureaucratic red tape, and especially the Florida DEP requirements on “DEP approved“ sand.  At a minimum, they should remove any emergency and permanent seawall requirements around this for the sand behind the seawalls. 

When asked why special sand is necessary, responses included everything from aesthetics (it needs to be similar color and size) and safety for sea turtle nesting, to because it’s a Florida law.

I love sea turtles as much as the next guy. Who doesn’t love sea turtles? Seriously though, sea turtles are NOT going to nest behind a seawall that goes 10 feet into the ground! Everything behind our seawall was covered in grass and was an average of 16 feet above sea level. I’m pretty sure the sea turtles aren’t looking to nest there. 🤬 ‼️

The world needs to wake up‼️ We need to do the right thing at the right time for the right reasons. Simple as that.
