Carnival will continue to welcome unvaccinated guests on board, but all unvaccinated guests, including children under the age of 12, will be subject to pre-cruise and pre-embarkation testing and testing again prior to debarkation (on cruises longer than four days) along with a $150 per person charge to cover the costs of testing, reporting and health and safety screenings,” Carnival Cruise Line said in a statement.

Vaccinated passengers will have to submit their COVID-19 vaccination card before entering the ship and will not be charged the added fee.

“The decision to sail with vaccinated voyages was a difficult one to make, and we recognize this is disappointing to some of our guests especially the many families with children under the age of 12 who we love to sail, and who love to sail with us,” said Christine Duffy, president of Carnival Cruise Line.

“It’s important to remember that this is a temporary measure given the current circumstances. In consultation with our medical experts and advisors, we’ve determined this plan is in the best interests of the health and safety of our guests, crew, and the destinations that we bring our ships to."

Carnival says starting next month, unvaccinated guests departing from Florida, and from Texas beginning, August 2, will also need to show proof of travel insurance coverage.

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (ABC) — Royal Caribbean just revealed what a cruise from Florida in July will look like.

As we’ve been reporting, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis is still fighting with the CDC over vaccine mandates, threatening cruise lines that require vaccines with a $5,000 fine per passenger starting July 1.

Royal now plans to have different requirements for vaccinated and unvaccinated guests.

Unvaccinated guests 16 and up will have to pay $136/person for on-board testing.
Some events and venues will be restricted to vaccinated guests only.
Face masks will be required for ALL passengers indoors unless you’re in a vaccinated-only event.
Unvaccinated guests will not be able to make reservations in advance for the Main Dining Room — Royal will have specific times when they can dine.
Some shows will be for vaccinated guests only. The first U.S. cruise is just about a week away on June 26 — the Celebrity Edge. This cruise will be fully vaccinated because it is happening before the Governor’s law kicks in.

The cruise line released the following guidelines:

"At check-in, guests will be asked to provide documentation of their vaccination, such as the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s (CDC) COVID-19 Vaccination Record Card. Those who are 16 and older and do not have or are unable to provide documentation will be considered unvaccinated. Our unvaccinated guests must undergo additional COVID-19 testing at their own expense, and follow the health protocols described below, which are based on guidance from the CDC. If you do not wish to undergo or pay for additional testing, or adhere to these health and safety protocols, we are happy to provide you with a refund. We believe that in the coming months, restrictions and requirements will be more accommodating as public health circumstances evolve."

Pre-Cruise
Unvaccinated guests 16 years of age and older will need to undergo an RT-PCR test administered by an accredited laboratory of the guest’s choice, and taken within three days of sailing. We will require documentation of a negative result for this test prior to embarkation. All costs for this test are the unvaccinated guest’s responsibility.

At the Terminal
Unvaccinated guests 2 years of age and older are required to take an RT-PCR test when checking in at the terminal, which will be administered by one of our testing vendors. Registration details will be sent via email in advance.

Prior to Disembarking
While onboard, unvaccinated guests 2 years of age and older will be required to undergo antigen testing within 24 hours of disembarking at the end of the voyage. This test will be conducted the day before the cruise ends by one of our testing vendors. Guests will be notified onboard about how to register for this test.

CDC approves Carnival's plans to sail from three ports

Cruise lines are making agreements with ports around the country to comply with the CDC's requirement that procedures are in place to prevent Covid-19 transmission on ships and in ports and that there is a public health plan in the event that cases are discovered.
Carnival Corp. said Friday that it had received CDC approval for port agreements it made with the first three homeports it plans to launch operations from: PortMiami, the Port of Galveston and Port Canaveral.
Carnival said last month that the Carnival Horizon would launch from Miami and the Carnival Vista and Carnival Breeze from Galveston in July as its first ships to return to service. Carnival said it would release its plans for Port Canaveral operations soon. The Mardi Gras, the line's newest ship, will arrive at Port Canaveral on Friday, June 4, from where it will sail seven-day Caribbean itineraries. But Carnival has not revealed when the ship will enter service.
"These agreements move us one step closer to sailing with our loyal guests," said Lars Ljoen, chief maritime officer for Carnival Cruise Line. "We appreciate the support from not just these three homeport partners but all of our homeports that are eager to have us back as soon as possible."
According to the Alaska governor's office, Norwegian Cruise Line signed an agreement with the state of Alaska and several port operators last week, laying out protocols for its resumption of cruises, that is being submitted to the CDC for approval.
The Norwegian Bliss is scheduled to launch service Aug. 7 from Seattle to ports in southeast Alaska, including Skagway, Juneau, Ketchikan and Icy Strait Point.

Global Travel Update - Highlighted destinations:

Mexico/Caribbean:
• Antigua: Open to Americans and Canadians. Travelers require a negative PCR test taken within 7 days of their flight. Must sign a quarantine form, committing to remain on the property except for certified tours and restaurants. Curfew in effect.
• Barbados: Open to vaccinated travelers only. Passengers must provide a negative PCR test taken within 3 days prior to travel, take a second PCR test upon arrival, and use designated transportation to their approved accommodation. Quarantine time for vaccinated travelers has been reduced to 1-2 days, during which they are free to move around in accordance with the guidelines of the approved property. Curfew 9:00pm-5:00am daily.
• Turks & Caicos: Open to Americans and Canadians with restrictions. Curfew (11pm to 5am) has been extended until June 30, 2021.

Latin America:
• Guatemala: Open to Americans and Canadians with restrictions. Fully vaccinated travelers can enter Guatemala without a negative COVID-19 test. They must have their vaccination card with them and have received their second dose of the vaccine at least two weeks prior to arrival.

Europe:
• Slovenia: Open to fully vaccinated travelers. Curfew has lifted and some shops are open, however the country is still in Red Tier restrictions until further notice.

Important Note for Returning U.S. and Canadian Passengers:
• U.S.: All American passengers over the age of 2 years must provide one of the following before boarding their flight back into the U.S.
o A negative COVID-19 test result (PCR or Antigen) taken within 3-days prior to boarding.
o Documentation of having recovered from COVID-19 and approved to travel by a doctor.

• Canada: All Canadian passengers over the age of 5 years must provide a negative COVID-19 test result (PCR or LAMP) taken within 72-hours prior to boarding their flight into Canada. Returning passengers will also be tested for COVID-19 on arrival and will be required to stay in a designated hotel for 3 nights at their own expense until the test result is obtained. Those testing positive will be required to quarantine in a designated government facility for 14 days. Those testing negative will be required to quarantine for 14 days at their own accommodation. Travelers with no adequate place to quarantine will be required to quarantine at a designated facility.

Celebrity Cruises will return to cruising with seven-night itineraries round-trip from St. Maarten starting June on the recently renovated Celebrity Millennium through August.
The ship will sail with a vaccinated crew and will be available to vaccinated adult guests and children under 18 with a negative PCR test result within.
