This page is intended for anyone who is interested in following the Naval Reserve Officer Training Corps Unit at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in Daytona Beach, Florida. The NROTC Unit at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University is committed to developing quality officers in the United States Navy and Marine Corps. The midshipmen within the Battalion accomplish this through physical training, c

lose order drill, community service, and leadership opportunities available from the Battalion or elsewhere. Midshipmen also have summer training each year to learn more about the different communities in the Navy. Rising 3/C midshipmen that go on summer training attend Career Orientation and Training for Midshipmen, or CORTRAMID. On CORTRAMID, the midshipmen spend a week each with the surface, submarine, aviation, and Marine Corps communities. Rising 2/C Navy option midshipmen that go on summer training spend time aboard either a ship or submarine and are assigned running mates from the enlisted ranks to get a firsthand view of how life aboard the ship or submarine is from them. Rising 2/C Marine option midshipmen attend Mountain Warfare Training where they learn different survival techniques and get ready for Officer Candidate School the following summer which they attend as 1/C midshipmen.

1/C Navy option midshipmen can be assigned to a ship, submarine, or squadron. They are assigned junior officers as running mates to get an idea of their role within the command. 1/C Navy option midshipmen can also spend time with the Special Forces community (Explosive Ordnance Disposal or SEALs) or go on a Foreign Exchange cruise in which they train with a foreign navy. For our first 1/C Friday of this semester we have MIDN Keiffer!

MIDN Keiffer is an Aeronautics major at Embry Riddle Aeronautical University with minors in Airline Operations, Aeronautical Studies and Military Science. She has been an outstanding member of Weapons Department. In her free time, she enjoys playing basketball and volleyball. On campus, she is a part of the Pickleball Club, Sigma Kappa and NGPA. She also works as an SGA Shuttle Manager. Her favorite memory from the Battalion was the Dining-In cocktail hour. This spring MIDN Keiffer will be commissioning into the US Navy as a Submarine Officer pending her interview!

Congratulations MIDN Keiffer! You have been a memorable part of our battalion and wish you the best of luck in the fleet!

Next up on 1/C Friday is MIDN Villasenor!
MIDN Villasenor is a Mechanical Engineering major at Embry Riddle Aeronautical University. During his time in the battalion, he took the opportunity to serve as the Recruiting Officer. Some of his favorite hobbies outside of ROTC include cars, working out and hiking. His favorite memory as a midshipman is when they talk about summer cruises. He enjoys seeing all of the cool things everyone gets to experience out in the fleet. This fall MIDN Villasenor will be commissioning into the US Navy as a Submarine Officer.

Next up for 1/C Friday is MIDN Breining!

MIDN Breining is a Mechanical Engineering major at Embry Riddle Aeronautical University. During part of his time in the battalion, he served as the Operations Officer and the Weapons Department Head. In his free time, he enjoys reading, shooting and spending time with his friends. His favorite memories are from his time with his outstanding friends and mentors that he’s met through the battalion. This fall MIDN Breining will be commissioning into the US Navy as a Submarine Officer!

Congratulations to MIDN 2/C Millard for being selected as the October Midshipman of the Month!

He has made a remarkable impact on the battalion by developing the Midshipman Battalion Recreation Committee’s financial presence and representation within the Embry-Riddle Riddle Student Government Association. He has also organized several other opportunities to provide funding for the battalion. Congratulations MIDN Millard!

Next up on 1/C Friday is MIDN Silver!

MIDN Silver is a Mechanical Engineering major at Embry Riddle Aeronautical University. During part of his time in the battalion, he served as the Public Affairs Officer and has been a great influence on his peers. In his free time, he enjoys Slalom water skiing, reading and staying active. This fall MIDN Silver will be commissioning into the US Navy as a Naval Reactors Engineer!

For our first 1/C Friday for the fall 2024 graduates, we have MIDN 1/C ODorisio!

MIDN ODorisio is an Aerospace Engineering major with a focus in Aeronautics. In her free time, she enjoys swimming and crocheting! Her favorite memory from her time in the Battalion was when she was driving the cove simulator and the navigator said “yeet” during her graded final project with LT Taylor. This fall MIDN ODorisio will be commissioning into the US Navy as an Ensign and pursuing a career as a Student Naval Aviator!

On 03OCT2024, ERAU’s NROTC Battalion held their Fall semester Whites Inspection where they were once again graded on uniform standards, bearing and military knowledge. Keep up the hard work!

Congratulations to MIDN 2/C Henriquez for being appointed our September Midshipman of the Month! He has shown true leadership and initiative by single handedly developing the Personnel Qualification Standards for the Marine Option Company on his own accord. Excellent work MIDN Henriquez!

On Friday, September 20th, MIDN from the Embry-Riddle NROTC Color Guard Team presented the colors for the Ormond Beach Cub Scout Chapter’s flag retirement ceremony. The Color Guard team travels and participates in a variety of community events throughout the year to include parades, Veteran’s Day ceremonies, the Daytona 500, and many others. Congratulations to them for the hard work!

On 19SEPT2024, Embry Riddle’s NROTC Battalion held their Fall 2024 Khaki Inspection. These midshipman were tested on knowledge, professionalism and uniform standards. Congratulations on all of your hard work midshipmen!

On behalf of the ERAU NROTC battalion, we would like to thank the crew of HSM-50 for the outstanding flyover and static display they provided! This was such a unique opportunity and special occasion hosted on campus. The crew provided an abundance of knowledge to our battalion and we appreciate them taking the time to help educate our Midshipman!

And finally, our last highlight is MIDN 1/C Olivia Silver!

MIDN 1/C Olivia Silver grew up in Atkinson, NH and Issaquah, WA. She is currently majoring in Homeland Security with minors in Cyber Security and Military Science. In May she will commission into the Navy as an Ensign and will pursue a career as a Surface Warfare Officer, completing her first DIVO tour aboard the USS Fort Lauderdale out of Norfolk, Virginia. She is currently our Battalion Executive Officer and previously served as the Engineering Department Head. Outside of school she spends most of her time involved in her church, crafting, baking, hanging out with friends, or exploring Florida. She also enjoys doing all of these things with her husband, Ryan.

Congratulations! We know you will do amazing things and can't wait to see what you accomplish in the fleet!

And lastly, our final 1/C to be recognized is MIDN 1/C Mehta!

MIDN Mehta is a Homeland Security major with minors in Cyber Security and Arabic. MIDN Mehta served as the Battalion Executive Officer, Marine Option Company Commander, Platoon Sergeant, and BN Community Service Officer. In her free time, she likes running, lifting, and giving people kudos on Strava. She will be commissioning as a 2nd Lt in the Marine Corps with a Ground Contract and is eager and excited to lead Marines!

Congratulations on behalf of the battalion on all your outstanding accomplishments these past few years! We cannot wait to see what you accomplish in the future!”

And next we would like to highlight MIDN 1/C Rees!

MIDN Rees will be graduating in May with a Bachelor of Science in Aeronautics with minors in Project Management, Air Traffic Management, Military Science, and Aviation Law. She has been service assigned to the Submarine community and will be heading to the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory before reporting to Charleston for Nuclear Power School. Some of MIDN Rees’s favorite memories from the last four years are going on a FOREX to Germany in the summer of 2023, developing and participating within the SWO LDE, and interning in the House of Representatives in the summer of 2022. In her free time, MIDN Rees enjoys reading, cooking for her friends, traveling to new places, and rock climbing.

You have done an amazing job these past few years in the battalion and we wish you the best of luck in the future! We can’t wait to see what outstanding things you achieve!

MIDN Christian Nowak !

MIDN Christian Nowak is an Aeronautics major with minors in aeronautical studies and military science. He is from Prospect Heights, Illinois and will be commissioned into the Navy as a Naval Flight officer and will report to NAS Pensacola. MIDN Nowak has held different billets within the Battalion and mostly recently served as the Navigation assistant department head. Outside of the Battalion, he likes watching racing, being outdoors, and riding motorcycles.

From the battalion, we would like to thank you for all your hard work and dedication you have put in these past years. We can’t wait to see what you will accomplish and wish you the best of luck!

Throwback Thursday to last week where Midshipman and Cadets from ERAU’s Air Force, Army and Naval ROTC programs participated in the university’s first Joint Pass-In-Review last week. Dr. Butler stepped in to serve as the inaugural Reviewing Officer. This event marks the culmination of a successful school year for our ROTC programs. Thank you to the university leaders and families that came to support our nation’s future leaders!

From 15-17 NOV, ERAU’s Marine Option Company, and candidates from Officer Selection Team - Orlando, partook in the FA24 Tiger Bay FEX. The FEX is designed to prepare Marine Officer Candidates mentally and physically for the rigors of follow-on training (such as Officer Candidates School). Candidates were placed in a high stress/intense environment where they conducted training events seen at OCS: an Endurance Course, Day and Night Land Navigation, 5-Paragraph Operations Orders, and Small Unit Leadership Evaluations.

Today on October 31, the battalion conducted their annual Halloween PT! Great work midshipman!

Spring 24 SWO LDE was a huge success!! Thanks to our amazing staff who made this awesome training possible!!
