Edit: Thank you everyone for your donations so far. We have the most generous friends. We are leaving tomorrow morning before dawn with as many supplies as we can afford.
Wanted to clarify that we are spending our own money to haul everything up and are spending several thousand of our own dollars to purchase supplies. Everything that you donate will directly buy supplies. We have a running list of all donations and will have a very public thank you to all of the businesses, individuals and family’s that contributed.

We’re headed to Sam’s shortly to load up on as much water as we can safely carry. Unfortunately water is the heaviest and most needed supply. We’re also purchasing non parishable food items, personal hygiene products, baby supplies, and toiletries.

Deleon Springs Hardware graciously sold 12 gas cans at cost.

If anyone has any inside tracks with wal mart or Sam’s please let us know. We’re trying to stretch every dollar.

The plan is to arrive in Asheville tomorrow mid day, unload all supplies, empty as many gas cans into vehicles and generators as we can and then head back out of town to resupply with gas and food as many times as we can until we’re out of time and money.

We’re so thankful to have the time to be able to take this on and for the help. Yall stepped up for so many folks in the Houston area 7years ago and you’re stepping up again! 🐊❤️

———————————————————————
We’ve been in contact with family in Ashville. Supplies in the area are going to be dimensioned quickly. Brittany Mattson and I are going to be organizing groups to caravan supplies into the Asheville area over the next couple days.

Looking for trucks and vans as well as well maintained trailers and supplies.

If you’re interested in donating your time equipment or cash for supplies please dm me. Will try to be on the road by tomorrow morning.

We’re looking for donations to buy
-gas cans
-gas
-food

We also need propane tanks.

This situation is likely to get way worse before it gets better so hopefully we can get supplies to people in need and if needed set up a supply line over the next several weeks.

June has been stunning. Longer hotter days lead to early mornings and late evenings as wildlife seeks shelter from the sun. Flowers are blooming, chicks are hatching, sow gators are building nests and laying eggs. Manatee sightings have been very good but inconsistent.

Weathers heating up! Mornings have been the strongest tours but evenings are holding their own. Quickly becoming too hot to operate all day as wildlife becomes inconsistent in the heat. 🐊❤️

Excited to see the Kites coming in! We’ve seen roughly a dozen in the last week.

Excited to see the Kites coming in! We’ve seen roughly a dozen in the last week.

From our last update on March 12, 2024, five of the GPS-tracked Swallow-tailed Kites made their way to their 2023 territories in the southeast U.S. (Cypress, Luckey Lox, Cinco, Suwannee22 and Snuffbox Canal). Since then, Sanibel Botanical has returned to Sanibel Island in Lee County, FL. We have also had six other GPS-tracked Swallow-tailed Kites cross the Gulf of Mexico to reach the U.S. Lox 22 had a bit of a lengthy crossing but was able to rest in Cuba for a day. Juno had a the most direct route back to Palm Beach County, FL. Peter’s Creek and Belle River and Abita Flatwoods flew across on good tail winds towards their final South Carolina and Louisiana destinations. The latest to cross the Gulf of Mexico was Simmon’s Creek after headwinds and a cold front, he is safe in Louisiana and on his way to South Carolina.
Fingers crossed for Baliey’s Homestead who could be crossing the Gulf as we post, followed a day or two later by Barrington. Safe flights to all migratory birds!
