Eleven of us showed up to paddle this week, it turned out to be quite a nice day on Crow Wing Lake, despite the forecast of rain. We had a nice lunch on Pat’s patio and she had BLL and ice cream sandwiches for us all! Thanks for hosting, Pat! Sadly, I FOUND the chips in my cupboard when I got home!! And Claire’s licorice stayed on her porch at home as well!😢 We will do better next week!!😂

We kayaked from Mary L.’s house last Monday. She ordered up a perfect day to be out on the water. The far North checked in with a hike up the Butte in Palmer.

We got another beautiful Monday and eleven of us made the trek to the top of Miner’s Mountain on Monday. Eight of us were able to stay and enjoy lunch at Rafferty’s and lots of good conversation.

Well, I hate to admit that after asking people to send pictures every week when I was in Alaska, guess who didn’t take one of the 9 of us who walked on Monday????😩 Anyway, this is a photo of the lovely centerpiece that Jeanne made with her free plant! The plastic bag around it added extra beauty!!😂 I’ll try and do better next week!🤞

Kathleen sent this from the MN chapter this week:
We had 10 walking today. Clare S. had to leave early and I somehow deleted the picture with her. We had lunch at Harpos. It was early in the walk and we all had to take our sweatshirts off.

The MN crew is getting bigger! They walked the trail in Kiwanis Park and then had lunch in the park. Thanks to Kathleen for the picture! The far North didn’t hike, but played pickleball outdoors on Monday, it was 25 and sunny when we started, but much warmer by the time we finished. No picnic for us, but lunch at the Fine Thyme.

We had check-ins from Pat and Claire last week and Pat checked in for the SW bunch again this week. The MN group was snowed in last week and were indoors this week, so no pictures from them. I threw in some beach pictures from yesterday. I’ve just put in what everyone has written, hopefully, it all makes sense!

The SW bunch couldn't resist Saguaro National Park again...forgot to get a picture of our mammoth burgers and Barrio Blondes for lunch 🌵🥰🤗🍻

My last weekend of hiking at Boyce Thompson Arboretum and Cat’s Peak. I am sending the flowers with love to anyone who loves a little color .😍

I'm so sorry I forgot to send our SW chapter cocktail hour last week! Laurie Sweeney was here to visit!...and the desert is in BLOOM🌵🌸

The MN group had a nice walk followed by lunch at Grizzley’s. Claire was too busy celebrating St. Patrick’s Day and singing karaoke to hike this week. I helped throw 320 pounds of candy out on the parade route and hiked to Skilak Lake. That’s all the news for this week!

The SW chapter checked in this week with this post:
We hiked in Saguaro National Park....then had lunch (and a prickly pear margarita) at Tanque Verde Ranch...owned by the Nisswa Cote family, same as Grand View Lodge. Our waiter Arturo was a hoot!
Claire checked in, also in the SW and of course a few shots from the far North and of course, the faithful group in MN!!

Once again the MN group had a tailgate lunch, thanks to Jeanne for the photo. Not pictured, Karla, Pam Musielewicz and Jeanne, who is represented by the shadow. 😊

Pat and friends checked in from the SW chapter:
So many of you that came to visit us here in Green Valley...also visited Oscar. ...May he RIP♥️. Clare Sinner enjoyed the SW BLL Meeting today too. Poor Oscar is still in our tour list😭

And from the far North, our last hike in Palmer and back home with the moose.

Another Monday and check ins from across the country.

Sara sent this:
We walked the trail at the Arb and tailgated our lunch in the parking lot! Isn't that crazy for late February in MN! The plan for next week is to meet at the soccer fields in Baxter and hopefully tailgating our lunch again.🤷‍♀️

This is from Claire:
Hiking Adero Canyon near Fountain Hills and Cat’s Peak at Usery.😊

This was last week from Claire, which I forgot to post:
My grand girls were here for the weekend. They weren’t so fond of hiking!😳

This is from Pat, check out Ellen’s FB post for more pictures:

This was from Kathleen, checking in with our faithful group of Minnesotans:
Our walkers for today. It was sunny and beautiful on the trail. The temp was in the upper 30's. We saw a guy running in shorts!

This was from Pat and the SW Chapter:
Great BLL Day in the West Desert...Marlee went Jeeping with house guests....and I think Mary L might be almost back to MN 🌵
And from Alaska, a couple of pictures of the ice on the beach.

The faithful MN trio were at it again this week, thanks for keeping our tradition going! Pat checked in from the SW chapter, but somehow I lost her picture. I’ll add it later if she sends it again. I’m in Juneau this week and found a beach on Douglas Island which is across from Juneau and accessible by a bridge. It’s beautiful here, but I will NEVER understand why they chose it as the capital!! You can only get here by plane or boat, it’s incredibly expensive, and there’s not much useable land. Just added Pat’s pics.

02/06/2024

If you already checked this weeks post, go look at it again, I missed a few photos! That’s what happens when I have to remember for a few days!! Anyway, it’s been “amended “.

Once again we had “check-ins” from all over the country. Sara, Kathy and Karla from MN. They noted that Kathy was holding her ice cleats and Sara and Karla wore their tennies. Claire checked in from the Bush Highway near Saguaro Lake in AZ. Andi has been on the road to Laurel, MS and then to Florida to see her sister. I was in Old Town Kenai checking out the Russian Orthodox Church and Rectory. No report from the SW chapter, but check out Ellen’s FB post if you haven’t already. Thanks to everyone for sharing, “see” you next week! Oh, I saw Barb’s comment and realized I forgot to post her photos from “across the pond”! She’s in Ireland visiting Orion and his parents! 😊

Once again, we have Monday reports from across the country! Thanks to everyone for checking in!! “See you” next week!

We had this report from Sara:
The "Only ones left in Mn" chapter of BLL kayakers had a lovely walk on the trail starting at Train Bell Resort. Next week we will check out the trail in Pequot Lakes.

Pat reported from the SW chapter:
I hope some were able to MN hike! I did the West Desert today, Ellen golfed and Marlee's busting her f***y at PT. Gosh It's hard to get our schedules in sync!

Lots of rain, Oscar's pretty saturated 😭. Look at those low clouds in the valley and snow clouds in the mountains!

And in the far North, we, that would be Digger and me, went to the beach. Once again, I’ll let the readers figure out where the pictures came from.

Just got a report in from Claire, so I’m adding it and her pictures.

Hiking at Tonto National Forest up to Wave Cave. To the Southwest BLL group- does this cactus resemble your Oscar?😊

Here are the email conversations from this morning’s outings.
From Pat:
Well ...the 1st winter meeting of the SW Chapter of BLL Walkers was called to order this morning at 10:15. Ellen was absent (due to an important engagement on the golf course). But Pat, Marlee, Mary, Oscar and several cattle were present!
Lots of important business was discussed 😂!

Keep hiking Pals!

From Sara:
Looks awesome ladies! The frigid north chapter forgot to take pictures of us on the treadmill inside at the Y. Kathy, Sara and Mary P. also discussed important business. Keep on trucking everyone where ever you are!

From Kathleen:
This is how I spent my Monday. The Southwest chapter looks fabulous!

And as long as we’re checking in from all over the country, the far North chapter added a couple of photos from the beach.

How fun to be so far apart and yet so connected!! I’ll let the readers figure where the pictures came from….if there was a quiz, I’m guessing everyone would get 100%!!

We had another great walk this morning and then lunch at Kathleen’s. The beer cheese soup and chicken salad wraps were delicious! Laurie made cookies and Karla brought candy so we had great desserts as well!
