The City of Denison, Texas and Downtown Denison TX had the opportunity to host our friends from Abilene Kansas last week!

The City of Abilene is home to the Eisenhower Presidential Library and Museum, and brought their Mayor, City Manager, and Tourism Director to explore Denison and share our love of Ike.

Tourism Grants from the Denison CVB are intended to provide financial support for initiatives, activities, and events that promote the City of Denison for the purpose of attracting visitors to the City. Grants are broken down into three categories: Events, Conventions, and Historic Preservation. Examples of past grants include: Perrin Air Force Base Museum marketing materials, the Texas Local Firefighters Retirement Act Conference, and the Red River Open Disc Golf Tournament.

There will be two grant cycles in 2024; the spring cycle will be accepting applications February 1st through March 1st and the fall cycle will be open July 1st through August 1st. These grants will be part of the same fiscal year, and organizations can apply once each year.

The 4th of July Boat Parade is back at Grandpappy Point! Enter your boat or grab a seat at The Point Restaurant for the show on Saturday, July 6th!

Get ready for our second annual 4th of July Boat Parade 🚤🛥🚤

We’re giving away over $1000 in prizes for the most patriotic boat in our second annual Boat Parade! 💰

When is the Parade: Saturday July 6th from 4pm - 7pm, with the winners to be announced at 8pm at The Point Restaurant.

Where to Register: Register between now and Thursday, July 4 at 3pm at our Marina office, or at The Grandpappy Fuel Dock. More details will be given upon Registration.

What do I do: Decorate your boat for Independence Day however you like! Bunting, flags, floats, if you can pull it off, we want to see!

How am I judged for the boat parade: Participants will be judged Saturday July 6th for the most patriotically decorated boat. Slowly drive by The Point Restaurant between 4pm - 7pm and then make your way up to The Point’s patio using the courtesy slips at the Grandpappy fuel dock. The winners will be announced at 8pm.

What will I win: Prizes will be awarded for the most patriotically decorated boat. First place will win a $500 gift card to The Point Restaurant, Second place wins a $250 gift card to The Point Restaurant, and Third place will get a $100 gift card to The Point.

*All participants will receive a voucher for a free appetizer at The Point upon registering.

*We are family friendly business and this is a fun, family friendly event, any profanity or non-family friendly themes will disqualify any participant from the contest.
