We went exploring to try to find the Bald Eagle nesting in Orleans. I had a hard time locating previously, however, I use a 28X optical zoom and I finally located it.

Sunday was a beautiful day in East Orleans. Each year the blossoms from the hibiscus bring a smile.

As the publisher of VisitCapeCod.com I want to first say thank you for joining me here on Facebook. I’ve lived on The Cape since 1979. Aa a child growing up in the 1950’s my most joyful memories were of the days we spent here, and because of those memories, both then, and now I have an ongoing love affair the people and places that make Cape Cod what it is.

As the years pass the things I remember have changed and in some cases vanished. However, the salt air, scrub pines, nature paths and beaches have not, and will endure. My greatest concern is the cost of living and the how one sector has had a life altering impact on so many, and that is the cost of real estate. The benefits of living here for me has always been the life quality issue. Now I realize that real estate has sky rocketed nation wide, however, real estate on the Cape has been acquired by companies whose business is short term summer rentals. What has happened as a result of these acquisition is real estate values have sky rocketed, and available inventories have been depleted. This makes it impossible for the average working family to afford to buy a home, and many young people have left what have been their homes for areas that are more affordable.

My purpose here is, and has been for 27 years is to tell you how great Cape Cod is, and without reservation it is my absolute favorite place to live. I’ve been sharing this with you for a long time. The purpose of bringing this to your attention is certainly not bum you out, it is solely to educate and provide you with options as to where to stay when you visit. I’m certainly not going to mention the names of any company pro, or con. However, if this matters to you then you can always inquire when you plan your trip. Your rental agent will certainly be able to provide that information. If this is not a concern you are more than welcome here any way you see fit, and my intension is for It’s informative value alone.
