How we got started
Jake loved people and loved to travel. A dear friend’s mother was going to Australia, one place Jake wanted to get to but hadn’t, and she suggested that we send a picture of Jake along with her mother. A simple wallet sized photo that would be easy to access and carry along. She took Jake and put a sticker on the back of the photo document-ing he had been to Australia! Then, ano

ther friend went to Italy shortly after that and took Jake but took some wonderful photos that made me smile. This project came about from wonderful friends who were trying to help me through my grief in a way that would make me smile and laugh, just as Jake always did. Now, we have been asking everyone who travels and goes on an adventure to “take Jake” and snap a photo! Board members

Last year, we expanded our housing capacity to meet the growing need for longer stays and deeper, more personalized support. We proudly provided the most room nights in the organization's 27-year history, serving more than 400 families!

We hope you are as proud of this milestone as we are. Our growth is made possible by the direct support of our community. We look forward to seeing what we accomplish together in 2025!

This is very exciting! I had the honor to travel to Madison Wisconsin in 2009, where Team Rocky Mountain became my family! This was just a few months after Jake had passed. I was forever touched by love, courage and hope.! Take Jake has sponsored Team Rocky Mountain for several years now and many of you have had the pleasure to meet some of the team at our events! We look forward to participating and cheering you all on in 2026!!

Exciting news! The of America are coming to Denver in 2026! We’re proud to host the largest Celebration of Life yet, honoring the incredible impact of organ, eye, and tissue donation. The games will bring together recipients, donor families, living donors, caregivers, patients on the waitlist and medical professionals to celebrate hope, resilience, and the life-saving and healing power of donation. Shannon has received two cornea transplants, one in her twenties and one as a mom of four boys. Because of her gifts of restored sight, Shannon doesn’t play small with life – she is grateful every day, says yes often, loves sports and discovering new things like MMA with her boys. Shannon and her son recently enjoyed being a part of and sharing her appreciation for eye tissue donors and their families.

We are excited to announce that Take Jake donated $25,000.00 to Brent's Place and will underwrite thier community food pantry for a full year! This will impact each and every person at Brent's Place every single day!! YOUR impact will be felt far and wide! YOUR generosity is well known and so appreciated!
