💙🏳️‍🌈Denver Pride🏳️‍🌈💙
Pride Month, observed annually in June, is a time of celebration, reflection & advocacy for the LGBTQ+ (Le***an, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, & Queer/Questioning) community worldwide. It serves as a reminder of the ongoing struggle for equality, the accomplishments achieved, and the work that still lies ahead 🌈
Known as Gay Pride Week, Denver’s first 'Pride' event took place in June 1974 to celebrate gains & commemorate the NYC Stonewall Riots anniversary 🌈
The first Denver PrideFest occurred in 1976, the same year the LGBTQ+ Center on Colfax, was founded. The Center organizes and produces the festival and parade each year. The event currently consists of a two-day festival at Civic Center Park, the Pride 5K & culminates with a parade along Colfax Ave 🌈
Denver PrideFest now draws 525,000 guests annually, making it the 3rd largest pride festival and 7th largest pride parade in the US 🌈🇺🇲
On Oct. 7, 2014, Colorado legalized same-sex marriage, which the Supreme Court ruled in favor of just one year later 🌈
Just three years later, Jared Polis, the state’s first openly gay governor, was elected 🌈💪

It was a cold, rainy one at 9000ft, but luckily the weather didn't cancel any shows or Night Grass 🏔🎶🌧

Phew! The MLB All-Star Games were wild busy days with baseball fans from around the country descending on the Mile High City ⚾️🌃
I love working special events in Denver occasionally but wow is the I-70 an increasingly long, painful, sketchy commute with construction slowdowns & traffic. It's easily a 6 hour drive these days instead of the 4 it used to be from GJ. Plan ahead! Gas is sadly also now expensive thus the era of driving long distances for work has increased overhead & stress 🛣⛽
I'd love to make pedicabbing work here in GJ & am working hard to stay local offering ride services! Please reach out if you need a bike taxi service at your event or book a Colorado Riverfront tour via my website (in bio)! 🏞🏜
