Palisades, CO - Colorado's burgeoning wine area, just a few miles from Grand Junction, is known for its scenic vineyards nestled in the Colorado River Valley. The climate supports a variety of grape types and the region is celebrated for its rich, flavorful wines - particularly its Riesling, Syrah, and Cabernet Sauvignon. If you visit I recommend 2-3 full days to enjoy a variety of vineyards and the dramatic landscapes of Colorado National Monument. It's a great place for a couples getaway or wedding party celebration!

Any town near you - Celebrations (often with parades and fireworks involved) commemorating historical and cultural achievements can be found throughout the year and around the world. Those celebrations provide you with insight into the locals' values and the aspects of life that they find important. While we certainly enjoy celebrating our own holidays, especially Independence Day, it's also a good reminder to look at the calendar when planning your international trips to see if you can partake in a local celebration wherever you are traveling so you can learn more about the history and cultural significance of dates on their calendars. Ring of Kerry, Ireland - This scenic circular route in County Kerry encompasses numerous breathtaking sights and attractions. You can base in Killarney and begin the drive through Killarney National Park. Within the Park, key highlights include Muckross House and Gardens, Torc Waterfall, and the Gap of Dunloe. This gem is home to one of the most captivating masterpieces in art history - Johannes Vermeer's Girl with a Pearl Earring. The painting's enigmatic expression and exquisite detail draw you in. If you're an art lover or simply curious, this museum is a must-visit as there are several other masterpieces there - The Anatomy Lesson, View of Delft, The Goldfinch, and Rembrandt's Self-Portrait.

Rome, Italy - Even if you've visited a popular tourist spot before, the cost of hiring a local guide can be a phenomenal value as they will introduce to the hidden gems you'd otherwise miss. We'd been to the Roman Forums but hadn't spent too much time exploring Palatine Hill. Our guide took us there and provided so much detail about Stadio Palatino, Domus Augustana, and this beautiful courtyard, Fontana della Pelte. Worth every penny! Bruges, Belgium - This delightfully walkable town in NW Belgium has so much to see. You'll find windmills and historic entrance gates along a path encircling the city. In the Markt square are the 13th-century belfry, 14th-century city hall, and a variety of other historic buildings hosting shops and eateries. Keukenhof Gardens - This special venue, open annually from mid-March until mid-May, puts the tulip on brilliant display. Over 7 million bulbs are planted annually in a variety of outdoor and indoor garden styles - English, Japanese, etc. You can learn about the tulip's history, the various varieties, and how to care for the bulbs during your visit to this amazing 80 acre park near Amsterdam. Amsterdam, Netherlands - Five concentric semicircles and 160 smaller canals connect to create a fan-like historic center in Amsterdam. I highly recommend seeing the city from the water.
