This is my Grandma & Grandpa on their wedding day.

Grandpa Paul and Grandma Joyce.

Joyce is the wonderful woman whose name I carry, whose name reminds me of determination, tranquility, kindness, and immense love.

She also reminds me of an abundance of flowers; she was a gardener, and loved her flowers and the birds that visited her garden, especially hummingbirds.

When I look at this photo, I think about the love shared between my grandma & grandpa, how their love began, how it evolved, how it lasted for over 50 years.

I think about how special it is to have this photo, this photographic evidence of the joy they shared on their wedding day.

And, above all, I think about how important it is to be a wedding photographer, to be able to take photos like this and share them with my couples, to give them the photographic evidence of the joy they shared with each other on their wedding days, to be able to immortalize these moments for them to keep until their dying day.

I will never forget how important it is to be a wedding photographer. 🖤

The highest honor of being a photographer is…

Being able to provide loved ones with photos of their loved ones, to have as keepsakes forever.

Little Lady Bear, the beautiful little pup pictured here with her humans, Mariana & Dima, passed over the rainbow bridge recently. It’s been a hard adjustment for Mariana & Dima (and honestly for anyone who knew her and loved her, including myself) to move forward without her lovely little doggy smile and her incredibly friendly nature.

Through all of this, though, it’s been an honor to have had the countless opportunities to photograph her & Mariana over the last 10+ years of knowing them. It’s an honor I don’t take lightly.

To have these keepsakes to cherish forever, and to be the one to provide them to my loved ones, new friends, and clients… well, that’s the highest honor I can have. 🖤

When photographing a couple on their wedding day, I try to focus on one main thing:

Photographing them authentically; capturing who they are, how their chemistry displays itself in their relationship, the things they love about one another, and what their relationship is like — everything, everywhere, all at once, as genuinely as possible.

And if my couples can honestly see themselves in the photos I’ve taken of them, then that’s all I can really ask for.

A surprise marriage proposal on a wintery mountainside - can it get anymore romantic than that?

Nicholas reached out to me a few weeks before his and Taylor’s winter vacation, sharing his ideas of how he wanted to propose. He was envisioning a romantic Telluride proposal at San Sophia Overlook - a coveted Telluride wedding location - and I was 10000% on board.

While hiding out at the Telluride ski patrol building and trying to blend in (in spite of a ski patroller *almost* totally accidentally blowing my cover), I waited for Nicholas and Taylor to arrive from the ski lift, sneakily following them from behind and waiting for Nicholas to get down on one knee.

After their Telluride proposal occurred, I congratulated the two of them with Taylor’s favorite champagne in brand new glass champagne flutes for them to take home and remember the day by, and the three of us adventured along the ski resort for their mountain engagement photos.

To say it was a romantic dream would be an understatement, especially when you factor in the delicious dirty martinis they enjoyed at the end 🍸
